What he does in big mountain terrain is nuts, but I agree with you. I don't really love his style and he isn't the prettiest skier. His arms sorta flail everywhere and he's backseat a lot. I still admire what he can do, I just don't find his turns visually appealing.
 
Is he even able to spin without doing his little poke every time? I will say I’ve never willingly watched a Sammy C clip, I’ve always just been subjected to it. Respect to an OG tho, just never was one of my favorites.

I could really go for an Olenick brothers comeback edit. Now y’all got me itching to plug in the dvd player and watch Ski Porn when I get home tonight.
 
Caught the mf at Revy hungover as shit and with dirty ass white snowpants. Saw him later jibbing with like 10 fuckhead gorbs an just making them film him. I'm sure they all woulda sucked his dick if he asked. Not the guy any real skier should look up to. He isn't giving back shit anymore and is just in the game for clout. Whitewalkers are mid as fuck too

Yeah, that's what happens when you ski with the guy. Been like that since he was a kid (my old coach grew up skiing with him). I've seen him around hood and skied a run or two with the guy. He's kinda just in another world, doesn't really care about the other people in his crew and nobody seems to get to ski till Sammy gets his clip. Not sure why people let that slide!? great skier, wish I could say the same thing about his personality.

L take. I remember Sammy C coming to Meadows a couple times when I was younger and he was hyping everyone up regardless of how mid the trick was. I've seen him around Hood during the summers and he's always chatting with people about tricks they're trying, where they're from, and how their day is going.
 
I don't think this is a fair comparison, many skiers choose to focus on a discipline, Sammy definitely went the film route in BC / Big Mountain. I don't think Henriks BC footage compares to Sammy's since Sammy made that his focus, but henrik rips it no doubt, but there's no equivalent to the pillow charging butters of Sammy.

"The best skier" is probably an impossible assignment, but would agree that Sammy is up there, perhaps the best freestyle BC skier in the world.

I'm not sure if Sammy would win the FWT, but i think he puts out the best BC segments year over year pretty much and skis BC more aggressively than anyone else.

I ran into him at Revy a few years ago and he offered to show me the way to montana bowl (sidecountry zone) and asked if me and my crew wanted to head there to hit some features. He also wanted to make sure we had the gear and knowledge to go there safely (at the time we didn't). this is the only time I've interacted with him, so no idea what he's actually like but he seemed like a pretty standup guy based on that
 
A lot of the 2010 era msp movies out Sammy to shame in the big mountain imo. Sean Pettit wasn’t as good in the park as Sammy but probably better In the big mountain setting than Sammy before he switched to snowboarding, not to mention that was 10-15 years ago he was doing all that. He still doesn’t touch candide big mountain, but candide left park so much earlier it’s hard to compare. Mad respect to Sammy, he definitely rips but best in the world? I don’t quite agree, there’s just so many crazy skiers doing more in the park or more in the big mountain. I would think he would have to be at the top of both in order to really claim that, maybe there’s a conversation about his overall career having the best accolades, but not just based on skill compared to others now. Again, he’s definitely towards the top of the pack in both sides but he’s not better than everyone in a way that would make it definitive.

My Sammy claim story was walking down govy one night like in 2004. And he was with some kids throwing snowballs at Cars behind a snow pile well they hit a cop car and they bailed and the cop zoomed up to me and was accusing me of throwing it. I talked my way out of it and the cop left. Sammy and his posse came back said thank you for not ratting made fun of my armada hoodie and gave me a bunch of 4frnt stickers.

He's a damn good skier and for how few big names come from oregon he does it proud

I think a lot of people said the same thing about Candide and Markus Eder. They did alright.
