Salt lake city..U of U questions!

so I have been researching the college lately and was wondering what downtown was like. Iv been to salt lake city before a few years ago but wasnt looking for things in particular like clubs and bars and such. someone has tried to tell me that there are no regular bars or clubs in utah, its just restaurants and the bars are in the restaurants. Can someone verify this..are there good places to party in the city..?
 
people mostly party at houses

there are plenty of bars, they are usually just called "private clubs for members" meaning you either pay a cover or you buy a membership which is usually like 20 bucks I think.
 
There is a decent club and bar scene, you just gotta pay cover. It's just as good as normal clubs and bars tho.
 
I was fucked up for the first 5 days I was here, then had to tone down

because of school but that's besides the point. It's not hard to get

your drank or smoke on at all out here contrary to what others may tell

you. it's mad fun out here i think you'll like it.
 
there are a bunch of cool bars that you don't even have to pay a cover for (besides the yearly membership fee which is a one time deal) and you can really find anything you want to do from guido clubs to shitty hole in the walls. it's no different than any other city i've been to, really, and you can rage your face off no problem here.
 
Do any of you guys go to the U of U because I am planning to come out and stay over for one of those senior overnights later in the year and was looking for someone to maybe ski with or chill with etc.?
 
sick. everyone is always hating on the party scene in utah so i didnt know what to think. Im sure its not like new york, but i can deal haha
 
other than dance clubs you pretty much have to be 21 or have a fake to hit anything downtown. i would suggest the hookah lounge though
 
well you just gotta find kids that party and have a house in SLC, and then your set...
As far as bars and clubs there isn't really much, like everyone else said above
