Salomon Suspects that bad?

im 6' 3 and 180 lbs. i do about 99% park since im at a park specific mountain in pennsylvania. i bought a pair of 08/09 suspects and according to the shop they didnt have any returns or breaks on the ski as far as they know.

ive read some pretty hateful reviews on ns however and wanted to know if they really break that easily or if it is a story that got blown a bit out of proportion. after seein vids nearly all the salomon pros rode them last year and they look sick and i hear they ski sick. but as for the durability can i really expect them to break on me this season?
 
i saw a thread last winter that had pics of an epic delam with suspects! just searchbar and you're bound to find something.
 
you really cant judge a ski just because all the pros rode them. ive heard from people that theyre fun to ski but they are absolute garbage when it comes to quality. definitely not worth it IMO
 
wow im feeling pretty good right now............. does noone have anything good to say about them? how many of you have actually rode them. and those of you that have rode them did you all have problems?
 
they were one of the best skis i ever bought for about 2 weeks when the edge started to come out then it just got worse and worse and after the first day they had already started to delam alot
 
dead on exactly what happened to me!

i got mine warrentied (sp?)

edge armor is a great idea and the concept seems right but untill they some how fix it and or add a fatty edge (like Line or ARmada just to name some) its useless
 
how did you get them warrantied i brought mine back to the place i bought um and the flat out turned me down
 
i guess mine are miracles from salomon then, because i rode them probably a good 40 days last year, park, pow, rails, little bit of urban....rocks?? All i have to show from last year.... some very very minor delam. Super stoked on them, and will continue to be stoked on them....Until they break haha
 
Yea, same thing here! Mine ski awesome and don't have any poblems except for some topsheet chipping...
 
To be honest pretty much 90% of the suspects I've seen were broken. They started warrantying them at the end of the year last year when some kid on ns threatened them to sue them for false advertisment or something and they changed their mind and accepted all warrantys.....soooo legit....
 
Thats what I hear too, my rep said they will be accepting all warranties this year, just hang on to your receipt, as the warranty is one year from date of purchase, two years if mounted with a salomon binding.

The other thing i hear coming from the salomon camp is that the edge armour had less to do with the destruction of their product than shitty quality control resulting in a move of production to china. supposedly that oversight is fixed this year, and as long as stuff is actually warrantied, who cares?
 
I heard something like that too. That the reason for the Suspects being so shitty was some problems during production. I also heard that they changed some of that so that the last skis to come out of productions were nice. i don't know if this is true or not, but two friends of mine are skiing them and they have had no probs and say they are fantastic
 
I dont know Salomon is being so sketchy recently and they bullshited their buyers last year so I will believe it when I see it. And even if they warranty them you loose like 1 month without skiing by the time they send you new skis so its definitly not the best.
 
skied my suspects w/ griffons(which broke) all last season for about 50 days, and a few urban seshes, no problems at all except for usual topsheet scratches\chipping. glossy topsheet was sort of a dumb idea, but they have more pop than a bag of popcorn so who cares.
 
i rode them all of last year without anything bad happening to them... untill the end off the year when they delammed but i kinda deserved it haha
 
Yeah exactly, depends on how hard you shred, my buddy Luc Levert ripped his noses to shreds in less then a month :*(
 
My 08 09 suspects i have had for not even a year> Just a couple days ago the edge on one of them just blew out. does anyone know if you can get warrenty for this? beacuse of the the edge armour?
