im hoping to get the 09 or 10 suspects for this upcoming ski season, i would love it if people who ride the skis or have could pretty much tell me everything about them
how they handle in powder, ice, rails, jumpshow lightweight they are, or anything else you guys can tell me.
thanks a bunch newschoolers

Suspects are supposed to break very easily. I've never rode a pair, but from what I've heard, they aren't durable at all. That's what he's trying to say. Just don't get them.

I think too many people get their information from too few sources, and don't give the skis a chance. I'm still rocking my 08-09 suspects that are going to be my younger brother's skis next year. Their totally free of edge cracks and have very little topsheet chipping for the amount use they get (a whole lot). The bases are extremely durable and Ive only had 2 major core shots happen with them, which were both easily repaired with p-tex. They are great stiff and poppy symmetrical wider-ish park skis with great all-mountain performance. Buttering is difficult but not impossible, but the amazing pop you can get out of these things definitely makes up for it. I was so happy with the performance my suspects provided that I will be purchasing 10-11 suspects for this coming season. Stop the the suspect hate and don't regurgitate other people's opinions, develop your own.

i had a great season on my 08/09 suspects this past year. if they wernt standing below my chin i would be riding them again this upcoming season. only damage i can see is topsheet chipping around where my skis cros for mute grabs. if you like the way suspects ski, go for it.

can you tell me how the suspects ski? what did you enjoy about them? how are they on rails, jumps, ice, powder. etc? thanks

They are heavy and my pair is starting to loosing edges.. Already got 4 edgecracks. 08-09 pair.
I had some pressurecracks on the topsheet too.

for park they skied fine for me, a little heavier than i wanted but that didnt bother me so much.they were fine on rails, poppy and pretty playful. jumps were so so.. small jumps were fine, bigger jumps were hard to stomp, but that might just be because my skis got way too small on me by the end of the season.

This has been said before and I will say it again. Don't get those skis. They might be fine for a couple people but ALL of the suspects/dumont that I have seen were eventually fucked. There are so many better skis to buy out there.

this, they hold up fine for a while, then they just shit the bed. cant say mine have yet, but there are def. better skis out there.

anyone have a recomendation for a lightwight, good park/ allmountain ski. not the invaders. i skied thouse in 8/9 and didint klike them.

ohk here is where its at.i have 09 suspects. now suspects did have durability issues for sure. mine didn't so obviously not all did. i have LOVED my suspects and i find they are super durable. they slay everything and are super poppy but have a stable flex.such a dope ski. pretty sure 2010 suspects had even less durability issues so id go for them.
soooo dope.holla

i got the 09-10's after breaking my armada ar6s in 25 days.

so far i have had the suspects for around 25 days as well and they far surpass the armadas durability. i have had zero issue with mine so far.

The way the guy above me explained the suspects is a perfect description: super stiff, but incredibly poppy ski that is ridiculously stable. and the weight is normal-light.

...its just a risk if you get a good or bad pair. its just seems like its super hit or miss.

and by the way, im NOT easy on my skis at all. i bash the shit out of them.

I have one friend that has rode his hard all year with only minor topsheet damage ( he is also realy short and light though)
And another who has the topsheet delaming realy bad, over a foot of edge missing, and a huge chunk of base missing after about a month. It's realy hit or miss.

for some people they have been okay, i myself havent used them, i chose to stay away from them, but a large majority of people have had real issues with them. a good way to look at it is, yes maybe you might be lucky and have a good pair that will last, but if you dont, which seems more than likely based on all the issues they have had, you will be fucked, they arent covered by warranty, so you will be out $xxx.xx and stuck with a fucked pair of skis.

I was skiing with a guy with suspects. He hits THE FIRST rail of the season (A small flat down) and the edges on his skis are already like melted... :/

ok so some people have had theirs good but as of mine and my friend we killed ours. mine have 8 edge cracks i broke the edge armor somehow and my edge is separating from the base. my topsheet is killed im threw to the core in 3 places and they chip so easy. i also have 2 base shots and im just going to use mine as a urban/backyard/summer ski and am getting the ar6

my friend has loads of edge cracks missing edge and core shots tons of chipping way more than mine (he does mostly rails i do lots of jumps) ill also add this is his FIRST year on skis ive skied all my life and park about 3 yrs he hasnt. he kills on rails and we both are extremely hard on our skis. 1 thing i will say is i will probably never go back to salomon unless they change their durability.

They are a very fun poppy ski but mine got really soft at the end of the year and can butter really easily so wat im saying is DO NOT waste your money on these skis most likely you will get a bad pair.

i was under the imprestion that the suspects were an upgrade of the thrusters? and ive never heard any problems related to durability with them? am i misinformed?

The Suspects have edge-armor, while the Thrusters didn't. The edge-armor is one of the reasons why Suspects have bad durability. (I think anyway.)

sorry, i thought you might have, but it sounded like you were talking about suspects as they are supposed to be higher quality.

but no there have not been the same issues, or even as many issues with the thrusters as the suspects because there is no edge armour in the thrusters. that being said, the dumonts have the same sort of issues as the suspects seeing as they have double edge armour. in case you were wondering haha

Salomon defiantly stepped up their game this year with the Suspects. I love mine but I won't lie about the top sheets due to the fact they're not all that great.Mine are pretty chipped up but living in Michigan and the amounts of urban I hit with them might factor in. Swing weight is pretty good I'd say. Spinning onto rails was a little bit of a hassle but that could just be me. As for jumps I love these skis. Very poppy and springy but then snap right back for landings. Nollieing and presses were a little bit a porblem though. Just a little bit too stiff to really butter anything out. In the rail section I would say they hold up pretty good. I haven't had any problem with mine since I got them. Good edge control for switch ups and spins off. Only had one problem but that was with my base and had to get a core shot but I rode over a rock so not a problem. Pretty good ski all around other than for nollies, butters, and presses. Prolly gonna get the 10-11 ones considering mine are too short now. Hope that helps.

im dissapointed by the overwelhming hate for theese skis on newschoolers. i am also considering the armada AR6's any thoughts on thouse? can anyone tell me antyhing

Rode these skis through january. Edge got cracked and ended up ripping out 4 more inches of edge from underfoot as well as lifted the base from the core. Pretty much they got fucked. Now I have a $350 pair of urban skis. Prior to all the issues, they were one of my favorite pairs of skis out there.

disappointed in the hate? shouldnt you be disappointed in salomon for putting out a product that held up so poorly, and then did nothing about it? its not like the hate for these skis isnt warranted

oh haha sorry, i completely misread that. i agree, the skis seem to be amazing to ride, they just explode as soon as they touch rails

suspects are being made in austria this year oposed to china so the qulitey and durebility should be much better. And next years graphic looks so sick IMO. I'm def getting suspects

Looked at a pair the other day and the 2011 model has a thin white strip in the sidewall just ontop of the rail that runs from just infront of the binding to just behind. I think they describe it as edge reinforcement. Still has edge armour though. Would like a pair if this years hold up.

Has anyone skied the new ones and had any problems? Also how are the skis durability if your not doing rails? Im pretty much 90% jumps, has anyone had any issues with them apart from rails?

The problem with salomon park skis is that can not stand the cold, yes i know thats sounds retarded buts thats one of the reasons why they hold up so badly. This mostly effected the dumont had so many problems. My friends let his stand outside for the night( it was pretty cold that night) and the next morning he had 6 inches of edge sticking out of his ski.

The other reason the suspects broke is because of the edge armor the edge armor is metal that holds the edges together inside the ski. This got way to tight which caused them to snap and when you got edge cracks the edges started to fall out.

These are just some of the problems with salomons.

My 09 suspects went through 2 years of pretty abusive use, all of that mostly in park. Towards the end of this last season one of the tips started delaminating and now is delaminated about 4 inches back. I just use it as an urban ski now. Besides that, everything else is in pretty good condition considering the use they went through, the topsheets are pretty beat but the bases and edges are still pretty minty

although i agree many people have had durability issues, ive still got my 08/09 suspects and theyre fine, in fact i love them. theyre a bit stiffer than my thrusters and i definitely like that. so like people said, you're taking a chance, but if you get one of the pairs that dont break easily like mine, im sure youll love them

i said free of edge cracks, not edge damage, they have chips and dents in them like every ski that slides metal, but those are unavoidable. The edge itself has remained crack free.

I cant be bothered reading peoples post's but I do ride for Salomon. I wouldn't consider it there best ski they have had but i do like the stiffness on them in park. Although they chip easily and people claim edges and shit break easy etc etc. Im pretty small and light so i find them fine. They dont handle well in powder compared to the Shogun which i consider the best all round ski i have ever skied on i prefer them to the suspect in park powder pipe. But the Suspect skis well in park if thats what your guna do but if your wanting to do all round skiing i recommend the shogun true centre mounting and chea.
