Salomon Suspects Edge Problem

Hi last year I bought a pair of Salomon Suspects 171's with the STH 14's. They were a good ski overall but then the edge started separating from the ski. Salomon was a pain to initially get in contact with but they honored the warranty on my skis. Now what i was wondering was would it be okto get another pair of suspects or would they just make a defective ski again. If i shouldnt get them the ski shop said i could pick another pair what should i get?

Thanks For Your Help

I live in Vancouver BC, and got them at Comor Sports (http://www.comorsports.com/) and They have most ski brands ie. Volkl, Salomon, Armada, Atomic, K2, Rossignal... And i was pretty pissed at salomon for making Shitty skis any one else have that problem last year?

Yea last year there were tons of problems with that ski and frankly Salomon is a total joke in my mind now. All they did was make excuses all season long and waited until the season was over to own up to it being their fault for the product falling apart. Most people were not able to warranty so you are lucky. Anyways, what do you look for in a ski? Give us your specs and how you ski and we'll go from there..

Ok... So I am about 5'10 190 pounds. I teach skiing at Grouse Mountain and am quite good at skiing grooms, glades, powder etc... and am just starting to experiment more with park and pipe. Last year for the 2 months i had my suspects I learnt your park basics ie. straight air's, 180's, 360's, rails and boxes... can't say i am good at them yet but getting there... I already own a pair of shitty K2's which i teach in, a pair of last years magfire 82ti's and they were pretty solid all mountain carvers. So what i want in the near future would be a solid park ski which would be lots of fun, a skick powderski but i think i need a parkski first.

so are you looking for just a park ski, just a powder ski, or an all mountain? just a park ski will be symmetrical (or close to it) and skinnier most of the time, and powder ski is obviously usable but not preferable, and all mountain, well thats self explanatory...

alright so since you are getting them at your shop lets stick to Volkl, Salomon, Armada, Atomic, K2, Rossignal & Line. All of those companies are going to have a ski or two that fits what you are looking for. Do you have a preference in company? If i were the one picking your ski, i would stay away from Salomon and K2. Personally i dont like Salomon and dont like how they ski, and K2s are clunky and ive never enjoyed skiing them much..Atomics have never floated my boat either but im sure there are some out there who love them. As for Armada, check out the AR6. Line, check out the Chronic and the Blend. Volkl, check out the Bridge and the Wall. Rossignol look at the S3, S4, and S5. All of those are either park sticks, or park sticks with a little more sidecut, fatter dimensions, and like the S3, maybe a little bit of rocker.

At your weight, 181 Pipe Cleaners would be great. They aren't too soft or stiff, but they hand flex fairly soft. I can tip butter without too much effort after one day on them at 165ish lbs, and thy are super stable on jumps. Moun -2.5 o so, and you're set.

Now would you only look at weight for the height of the ski because I am only 5 10 ish and 181 is around the top of my head or higher...

And the armada's or the Rossignals sound good to me also I have heard good stuff about their products rather than all the bad shit i hear about Salomon, and K2... Which ones would be comparable to the Salomon suspects price range? because the ski shop i got them from cares about price..

I'm not sure why people are hating on K2. I have disorderly's and they are great park skis. Check the extremes if you want to go K2, or the kung fujas for more all mountain capability. Armada El Rey's are more of an all mountain ski from them. Or you could check the ARv for a wider ski.

Both of my friends with suspects had the same problem, I personally reccomend Line Because I've had them for 2 years now, now problems

The Line Blend sound like what you are looking for.
They might seem a little bit wide for what you are looking for, but trust me, the extra width is soooo worth it in the pow and crud.
