Salomon Suspect vs Armada T-HALL

I have boith and I can say they are completly differnt skis. The T-Hall is soft and buttery, does not hold an edge carving and is pretty bad in powder, but is allot of fun in the park.

The suspect, is much stiffer in comparsion, it has more pop then the T-hall and carves allot better. Powder performance is about as bad as the T-Hall. In the park, I prefer the T-Halls on rails, but prefer the suspects on jumps and pipe as they pop and carve much better.

Durability wise they both have edges cracks after a season, neither has edges pulled out. Top sheet on both is scuffed but nothing majour. I am actually more scared of the T-Halls breaking as, with them having caped tip and tail I know if they do blow out, thats them pretty much done, whereas with the suspect, because they are sidewall all the way, I know I can fix them if they do blow out.

Overall pretty differnt skis but both great fun.

Well what sort of level are you at? what tricks do you do and do you prefer rails or kickers. If your more a buttery rail rider like Phil Casbon then the T-Hall will proberbly suit you more. If your more about jumps like Bobby Brown for example you will prefer the pop and stability of the suspect.

Overall if you want a soft fun ski then the T-Hall is better, if you like to really push your skis hard and pop hard you will prefer the suspect.

Thats a bit of a sweeping statement, all skis will get trashed with use. The suspect nowadays is no worse and no better then any other ski out there. Well actually its better then a few I could mention, but compared to the T-hall its on a par.

Well I saw one broken pair, which we warrentied for the kid, and he got a brand new set. The other broken pair was just an edge pushed in from hitting it on a rail upright. Simply fix though becuase as I said, there full sidewall so there pretty easy to fix. Tthat was over the whole of last season, and it was a good selling ski, so overall pretty good durability genrally if you ask me. Now it may be differnt in differnt parts of the world perhaps, but from what I saw of last seasons suspects, there are no longer genral realiability issues like there were on the orignal models.

I think probably one of the main reasons people crack edges a lot on suspects is that they don't detune edges before hitting rails. The sharper an edge is, the more it'll catch on a rail, putting more pressure on the edge and therefore cracking it. All you have to detune is about a foot or so right under the bindings, and you're good. I've seen a lot of skis known for good durability get wrecked because they haven't been detuned, and a lot of skis known for shitty durability last for a long time because they were taken care of properly. Actually a lot can be gained from watching 4frnt tech talk on nstv. I'd reccommend it for learning a lot about basic ski care, etc. just sayin. Cheers

this.

my suspects are detuned underfoot for rails, and shit is holding up fine.

I say this for all of these threads.

FUCK the haters.

i had suspects last season and they are great...just not durable. after the first day the top sheet had chipped down to the sidewall. i detuned the shit out of the edges and got a bunch of edge cracks. they are soooo much fun on rails and jumps though, and thats why im warrentying mine and getting this years again

Yeah I got a rockin deal on pro pipes, so I figured I'd take it. Also just wanted to be sure, just in case the suspects durability problems came back.

truth,truthafter half a season:10 inches of chipping1 nose delamination1 topsheet crack1 bindings tear out 1 edge crack1 shitty year

just don't get suspects, they say they're "bomb" proof(more like firecracker proof) but their warranty only happens if you never hit/touch a rail or a jump

Well the nose delam would be warrenitied if it just happened and you did not slam the tip into a rail or anything. If you pushed an edge in on the nose and the core got damaged, and thats why it delamed then no its not a warrenty but if it just happened take them back with your original receipt to where you got them and they should warrenty them. Also bindings pulling out are sometimes instalation problems, what bindings do you use? is it a marker?

Well if its just a crack in the top sheet from the delam, that will not effect the ski at all. I would not worry about it. They should be good now. Shame you had a problem with the delam but at least you have got it sorted for free.

the crack and the delam are on different skis, but fuck it, i will just take the bindings off and pour gasoline on it, burn it, and film it and put it on NS

What did salomon say regarding the crack, if they fixed the delam, but they did nothing with the crack it clearly means its just cosmetic damage as I said above.

Do what you like with the skis, but I would just keep skiing them.

I have the 9/10 suspects and Iike them, the only problem I have faced is the edges on the top sheet start peeling of but that doesn't change anything about the performance. The only other thing that went wrong was a massive core shot but that's just because I was stupid.

i have the 09/10 suspects, durability was fine i have 8 edge cracks after 2 seasons. i love them, but i want just a bit softer ski. and i dont hit big kickers anyway.

I had the suspects this year ignoring all the hate, and I have to say i was not dissapointed! looking to get them again! as said earlier the skis have totally different aspects. Buttery vs stiff etc. Go with the one that fits you better!
