Salomon Rocker 2/Benchetler/Opus

Has anyone skiied these yet? Im looking at a new pow ski for this year and im thinking either the rocker 2 or the bentchetler. The rocker 2 seams like an awesome ski, but then again it is salomon and their skis seem to break all the time. The benchetler i know does work in snow and im looking into The Opus as well. Can anyone shed light onto my tough deceision and give me some good info? Thanks!
 
Opus rips anything and everything. Groomers and all. Chets were good last year. This year I've heard a few peeps say they feel dead but I havent ridden this years yet. Both are heads and shoulders above the rocker2 though. I'd say armada JJs or on3p caylors are probably closer to the mark. Honestly though the opus is like a paradox. Thing rips fresh and groomers with zero chatter. You won't believe it till ya ride em. So sick.
 
rocker2's are amazing. suprisingly light, just the right balance between too soft and too stiff, and not too wide to where you're hating life on days that aren't waist deep
 
The rocker 2 is more Of a powder only ski if I'm not mistaken. I would consider the jj and the on3p craylor as well. That way all skis have rocker camber rocker so you can make it back to the lift if your skiing at a resort. I have also heard that the bents aren't very lively this year. I would strongly recommend the jj and the opus. They seem super fun in all conditions. And I can't speak much for on3p except for the little I know about that ski. Iey ginko let's have a demo in co some time! Only reason I didnt consider on3p for my pow skis is because I wouldn't see them until after I bought them. But from what I hear all of their skis are great!
 
this battle should concern the rocker 2, chetler, caylor, jj. the opus is too soft to compare

 
Wwwwwhat? I'm not hatin bro. Jus think your misinformed for sure. The opus is nothing like the ep pro noodles. I've personally ridden the opus on patchy icy shit and it was amazing. Felt like a traditional ski. On groomers it's a friggin dream. I've never ridden a pro pow ski that felt that good on the groomed stuff. It's def because it's stiffer than the rest. Pretty sure it's even stiffer than last years bacons. So no it's not too soft. In fact it's the exact opposite of what you said.
 
Yeah they're definitely powder only, but like people have said the opus is just an amazing ski all around, if i were going to buy a new pow ski it would have to be the opus.
 
heard a few good things about the rocker 2, but I think it'd be way sicker if they added just a bit more sidecut. seems like the camber in it is almost useless. this is only what I've heard, have no real speculation myself.
 
ill ride the rocker 2 this season, as far as the bent goes, and its competitor the S7 (no metal) they are amaizng. i liked the bent a little more, posiblty cuz it didnt have a demo track, but the Bent with an FFG 14 is the msot fun ski i can say ive ridden
 
I've ridden both the jjs and the bentchetlers. And hopefully will get a play on the opus next week.

Pow - very good

Groomers - fun and really poppy. You need to have quite a bouncy carving technique and really work the ski to get the most of them on groomers. But they still shred.

Groomers - amazing for such a wide ski! Just put that ski and edge and let it tear away. 14m turn radius at 183cm!! That's slalom ski standard i believe. I can carve better on hard snow and have more fun on these than my walls. If i'm skiing groomers i'll still take out my jjs. They charge through crud, crust everything and turn it all to poor mans pow. I strongly recommend the jjs.
 
My favorite out of those three was the opus, hands down.

I ended up buying them after demoing a bunch of skis, incising the other 2 you mentioned.

The shred the shot out of groomed/hard snow, I don't know how, but they do. I haven't had the chance to tale them in pow yet, but I expect great things.

Super versatile/stable/poppy/fun all at the same time
 
I've skiied the rocker 2 - honestly thought it was weak. Salomon is stuck in the past and just now trying to figure out how to make a pow ski. the Rocker 1 was a joke. The Opus and Bentchetler are both sick skis. Both have rocker for float switch and forward, both have camber underfoot for tracked out snow and groomers. Both are sick. The Bents have a little more rocker, i'd say I like them more for straight pow and I also personally enjoy a little fatter waist. The Opus are a hair softer and a hair skinnier with a hair less rocker. Probably better if you want to take a few laps through the park on this ski as well, and easier to get edge to edge on same hardpack. Depends on your specific situation- can't go wrong with either the Opus or the Bents.
 
Just to say regarding the Rocker 2, act fast if you want some, as they are selling out so fast. Here in whistler we were out before the season began. There curently the fastest selling pow ski in North America. This does not mean they will suit you, but if you do decide you want some, dont hang around too long. We will have next years Rocker 122 in Feb to meet the demand if that might be of interest to you.
