Salomon Rocker 2 100mm / sizing and mounting?

I'm thinking of buying 100mm rocker 2, but im not sure about the size of the skis. Im 5'10 & 150lbs. Im gonna use them on park jumps, skiing all around mountains and in slight bit of pow. What size would you recommend?

I am also interested to know where i should mount bindings.

Thanks!

I've been riding the 170's for 2 years now. I am 5'8, 155 lbs. I bought them before last season as my first personal pair of skis, so I didn't consider myself an expert skier or anything. If you're a very confident skier or wanna hit a lot of big jumps I'd probably recommend the 178's. For me, the 170's now feel just slightly small. Also, I had them mounted at factory recommended, which I think is just a little back from center which works great for me as I don't spend a ton of time in the park. Overall, they're a super fun all mountain ski and even though they've got a bit of rocker the camber runs under most of the ski so you still have a nearly-normal effective edge.

id go with the 178 and mount them further forward so they ski a little shorter, but you still get the stability of the 178 twin

im 5'10 and 165lbs and I'm getting the 178 i think

I just got them, 178s, I'm 5'9 160.

They actually measure 175-6, and ski a little shorter than that...I'm debating whether I shoulda gone 186, but I'm loving them right now

I mounted ~2.5cm in front of recommended, centered on contact points, which is ~2cm back from true center.

Jonsse - i'm planning on getting the exact same skis since i'm looking to transition from classic carving skis to all-mountain and do more off-piste and such. After some discussions around here i also called Salomon US and also backcountry.com and talked to their respective consultants. For me at 6'3" both definitely thought the 186's would be preferrable... but more importantly i asked the Salomon guy about the effective edge on the model since i couldnt find the information online. He didnt give me an exact number but said that on edge in a turn it's about 80% of the length of the ski. From my admittedly limited math skills that would make the effective edge difference between the 178 and 186 about 6cm (they would be at 142,4 and 148,8 respectively from my calculations). How much that helps or hinders i'm guessing depends on what you are use to skiing on.

im about to place an order for these skis online and was wondering what you guys think of the Salomon STH2 WTR 13 binding? Is it ok if it pair that bininding with the Rocker 2 100 skis?

A- if you put a salomon binding onto a salomon ski, it increases the warranty from 1 to 2 years on both the skis and the bindings

B- I personally match brand with brand, so yeah I would put a WTR 13, or a Warden 13, as they are both salmons and both are solid bindings!

so im expecting the skis and bindings (Salomon rocker 2 100 + STH2 13DIN) to arrive by courier tommorow just in time for my last skiing trip of the season. There won't be time to go out for new boots so ill be using my old Nordica's. I fully plan to change them next season though so i was wondering if you guys had any suggestions boot wise that would go well with that configuration considering on and off piste skiing (not really big on the park personally...at least not yet lol)...

with the amount of tail rocker and the overall softness of the ski go into ~185 mount at recommended if you are skiing them all around the mountain and in some pow at the most go maybe 1cm forward from recommended

Boots depend largely on your foot shape, and you should go to a boot fitter and try on some different pairs. that said, do you have a ski setup that uses a frame touring binding like guardians or barons? personally i have really been in my new new dalbello panterra 120s, as they have a hike/ ski feature. look at the tunica coshise, panterras, rossi alltrack, but really just talk to a boot fitter and get some ideas

Yes there is a good amount of tip and tail rocker. but, I have the ski in the 186 and it is by no means soft, def more of a medium/medium-stiff stiffness IMO. Im remounting them with new bindings and will prob go +2cm from recommended, in an effort to shorten them up... though i may get the 178, who knows hah
