Salomon Quest Recall

At least they are admitting to their problem and not trying to hide it. Look what happened with Toyota, that whole fiasco has already blown over.

ya, for real. Toyota just posted a $2.2 Billion Quarterly profit so I'd say that whole "moving forward whether you like it or not" thing is over.

Meh, products fail sometimes, it's life. Unfortunatly, people got hurt by the product before the recall was issued, which is obviously a major bummer

PERSONAL OPINION, IN NO WAY DOES THIS REPRESENT NEWSCHOOLERS.COM'S OPINIONS.

Defects are a part of manufacturing. I can live with this fact without a problem. Where my problem with the situation comes in is in two ways.

1. I am a little concerned that they took a developed technology, thinned the main structural components drastically, and then never stress tested the pieces before sending them to market. A simple test in the lab would have yielded results showing the lack of structural integrity in the inserts.

2. It took them FAR too long to actually issue a recall once it had come out in the public that an issue was there. It took seemingly a large amount of the A/T community banging at their e-doors to get them to finally take the problem seriously, and even then, it's taken far too long to officially admit the oops.

Granted, hindsight is always 20/20. I just hope that Salomon and other manufacturers can take some sort of lesson away from this and be wiser in the future. It's terribly unfortunate that a skier who loved to shred had his life drastically altered as a result of short sightedness.
