I just got theese boots... they are super comfortable and i got footbeds and shit like that done to them. I only saw good reviews up untill today i found a bunch of ppl saying they fall apart and shit.. im kinda pissed if thats true...

any one got theese boots??

If you already bought them, just ride them and put them to the test.

I've heard both good and bad.

Yeah.. i love how they feel... its great.. thats why i bought them... yeah know.

people were saying the buckle breaks and the toe falls apart..

im more worried about the reported possible toe problem thing...

Concerning the toe problem thing, 2 years ago Salomon originally used non-industry standard tech inserts (Dynafit type inserts for that style of binding) and they were too weak and failed. Salomon recalled those toe & heel pieces and no longer makes a toe piece with a tech insert. So, your boots do not have that problem.

^ this exactloy regarding the heel and toes. Next season salomon will be releasing a new version of the tech inserts. If you have any issues with the buckles just take them back to a salomon dealer. Plently of spare buckles were made available to cover any problems.

If they are comfy then forget about it....but if you want to torcher yourself do a quick search on this site and another on Teton Gravity and you will have the whole story. They are only a few years old and they already have a controversial history.....but check it out for yourself.

LIsten if you already purchased them and they work for you just enjoy them. A boot that fits well is a rare thing so enjoy it....

Bumping an old thread, but I just bought these boots from a local shop yesterday (the 2012 model), and even got the liner heat molded and all that shit, not knowing about all the problems.

Should I ask them to take them back and buy a different pair? These are exactly the boots I want (I ski mostly off-piste, but no skinning/touring although)I wanna start hiking more, but I don't want to bust out for a pair of AT specific boots yet. These fit me like a dream too, so I want to keep them, but the shell/strap buckle issues are scary.

How fucked am I gonna be if one of my buckles break while I'm skiing? What about a shell crack?

I'd like to keep the boot if possible (if something fails, I'm sure the shop would take care of it for me, and in the best case scenario replace it with something else).

Or should I not risk it and ask them to take them back? I've not gone skiing in them yet, but I don't know if having had them heat molded is gonna be a deal breaker.
