Salomon CZAR owners/riders

Hey guys, just wondering how people like the salomon czar? I know it shreds pow, but what i am more concerned about is how it skis getting to the lift, on groomers and such?

Czar is a little wide for anything outside of a couple inches of snow, but because of the design (which i believe is 350mm or rocker, just tip unless they changed it on me this year) it can handle hard pack a little better than many pow skis.

personally i loved my salomon shoguns (only have 175mm of tip rocker) and i would think that the czar would feel a little more "boaty" and a little heavier. the best decision salomon made was making the czar with a bamboo core.

I personally hate the czar.I have had a few days that I like on it but overall not impressed. Skied it for 2 years as my touring ski with dukes. Have mounted it at both lines. 182cm

I ski in a very forward position and drive the tips of my skis a lot. Ski at Kicking Horse and Rogers pass. 5'6' 155lbs. Strong skier. past skis have been JJs. 05 Gotamas. prophet 130s.

The 40m side cut is a little excessive. I don't think a ski needs to be that straight to go fast. the side cut has no correlation with the rocker so you are left with a really straight tip that never engages. The small rocker and lack of width do not provid much float. When you watch people ski on it I can see this. The nose moves around so awkwardly in pow.

You will like this ski most if you are an upright lateral skier that does not work the nose of the ski, like eric hjorleifson. Definitely does not have a surfy feel though.

It's a very fun ski in powder (182), but I personally really dislike it anywhere that's not fresh. Turn initiation is terrible (I preferred the El Dictator 194s on groomers, which are 4mm wider and 12cm longer). I'd recommend going with something that has more sidecut.
