Salomon boots

anyone tried out the shogun boot yet? I can get em for 260$ which is damn cheap so I'm thinking about it? are they too soft?

The Shogun boot comes out the new X3 race series (not the older Falcon mold), which means the boot has a raised toe height of 4mm. Because Salomon raised the toe, the boot has less forward lean to maintain the same foot to leg angle. The actual 18 degree (not exactly sure what it is) is the same but the positioning of angle has changed. Imagine that you have this < but just tilt the whole thing counter-clockwise a little. Does that make sense?

So, even with "only" a 100 flex index, the boot still rips turns because of the elevated toe design. Instead of having to flex the boot, you just put more pressure on your toes and it makes the ski dance. I skied it last year and was super impressed.

I have huge problems with the inner boot of my salomon impact and it's the same material with the shogun's inner boot.. Huge upsizing problems ! the material decompreses really fast !! be aware of that!

to the first reply: thanks that was helpful

to the second: what does upsizing mean again? is that when like a 28.5 is actually more like a 29.5 in reality?

Yeah it means that after some days of skiing ( in my case it was only 10 days! ) the inner boot materials will decompress and it would be like having a boot one size bigger, despite the fact that you bought the correct size.. your foot will move back&forward up&down..

ohh word. that blows. but It's such a deal (260$ through shopform) I'm probably just gonna get em and hope for the best. I've dealt with shit boots all my life so if these are halfway decent I'll be pleased.

If you have tried on the Falcon/X3 boot in the past and it fits you, you will definitely dig how the Shogun feels and skis. And if you work in a shop (how you got the form?) try on a couple sizes and double check your shell-fit. I think it's a sick boot, especially for the cost.

nah i don't work in a shop my brother does out west and is gonna hook me up, i might head over to one of the local shops tommorow and see if they've got any in stock to try on though. thanks for the help!
