I have last years 2012 which i took to get mounted yesterday and when i told the guy to mount them dead center he said that they shouldnt be mounted center because they arent symetrical and to mount them at the progressive sstance? Is progressive the center or what im confused? and i have always had my skis mounted center i had ar7s mounted center last year. Should i call back and tell them to mount it dead center or just leave it at progressive?+k for help

Nope, definitely mount them centre. As TheClap said, always mark your mounting points on the skis yourself, much less confusion

yea never thought of that but they are the shop now do u think if i called them and told them i wanted them dead center they would be able to do it?

Is there not two lines on this ski?

There should be one line called progressive stance, and that's suppose to be dead center, there's where Mike D recommend people to mount them.

my local shop wont mount them past center because they said that its not symetrical? any ideas i think im going to take it somewhere else to be mounted and they said progressive is 3 cm back from center

They are 7mm off being symmetrical, you are not gonna notice that if mounted at centre. They are your skis and if they are not willing to mount them where u want then take them elsewhere. I had a shop tell me to mount my domains 2cm back?! They also didn't have a vice for a 90mm waist. I promptly left

yeah im pissed they wont mount them where i want them i literally argued with the guy to mount them up but he wont i hate this shop i really want to take them somehwere else but its only a 15 dollar mount there because i bought them there and if i take them somewhere else it will be 70 so idk if you said i wont feel that much of a difference?

There are way too many threads on this topic, do whats recommended or get them to do what you want and dont bitch about later when they dont work how ou want thwm

i found literally none on anything about 2012 mounting and the last two years i have had symetrical skis so they just center mounted them i did not know that u can tell them where you wanted them mounted

Mount them centre, they ski great there. Talk to the manager if the tech is being a dick.

This I can't find what location progressive stance is on the ski. Get them to measure from tip and tail to the progressive mark

Nope, and they are not going to ski as well at center as they will at about -1.5 to -2.5, and there is going to be very little if any noticable difference

The 2012 in both the 171 and 179 have the progressive line at -0.5cm from true center which is not going to be noticably different from true center

Update on my new 2012 twenty twelves, 186cms:

Just picked these up the other day. Mounted at Progressive mounting line. Opinion: They are amazing! Great for switch landings, it feels like they land themselves with almost no effort. If you are park/pipe/jibber/spinner then mount at the progressive center would be perfect. They also ski hardpack and transition edge to edge almost like a slalom ski. super fun and fast. The large side cut and gradual rocker feels like a legitimate regular camber ski in softer snow. If bumps, powder, regular landings from 20-30ft cliffs, trees and blasting groomers are your thing then mount at classic stance line. There is so much ski behind you already that you will like them better mounted further back.

Note: the progressive line is close to 2.5 cm back of true center. (i dont know about mounting them further forward as with boot lean you are already over that middle sweet spot) Hope this helps. Super fun ski!
