First off all, i want to give props to salomon for making the first commercial twin (not forgetting the ancient olin mark IV and the line ostness dragon). I've got the jellow and orange 1080's from the 00/01 season and they ski great.

Great in powder, good in the park, good on the slopes. The only thing is the twin is kinda low for switch landings. So I bought some new ski's in the 03/04 season and I tried the 1080's again. Didn't like them one bit, no rebound whatsoever so I bought the scratch (wich I loved).

In my opinion the reason a lot of people dont like the 1080's is because of that f*cking spaceframe. I mean it kills the rebound making it not fun to ski, it's not durable and costs a lot of money... there is a lot better and cheaper on the market.

 
i know what you mean, i use to have an old pair of 1080s and they were nasty,i tried out this years and wasnt a fan

i still have the junpei endo pros, they are such pimp skis, the last year they were made with a wood core too

I liked the 1080's way better than the scratches, the scratches were noodles. If you like skiing fast or charging you would die on those things

Yeah, I have the the last model before the spaceframe and they kick ass.

I also have a pair of pocket rockets and I love them. I can't speak for the 1080, but the Spaceframe, as far as the PR is concerned, kicks ass IMO.

the junpei endos, or the dorions or cussons for that matter, were not full wood core. they essentially make the shell of the ski out of milled wood, then the foam fills the interior. it seems like the spaceframe breaks down really quickly though. my old blue 1080s held up much better than my new silver ones did.

 
exactly as I said, the 1080's rocked untill they fucked them up with spaceframe

and ice-is-scary for just plain skiing I don't use my scratches, my old 1080's do that job just fine

 
i think the fischer c4 (which is a twin-tipped mogul ski from the 70s) predates all those early twins you mentioned. my dad has a pair in our garage.

Yeah salomon. When I was a noob i bought a 1080 bc of the good reviews and then i proceeded to snap it in half with my din set to 8. the funny parts is the spill i took was nothing the ski didn't even fall off. I got the store credit for it and got myself an ar5

 
I find the S-LAB's the nicest riding of the bunch. Give them a try, they might reaffirm your faith in Salomon.

Are you sure about the wood in the Cusson's? I'll dissect mine after I'm done with them to end the speculation.

i dont know why, ive jsut never liked 1080s, ive never really tried em, i guess the graphics just turn me off, its wierd

you guys gotta think that everyone has different prefrences, not everyone likes the 1080s, i can see how they could be too soft or wutever ur complaining about, but i love em, they are awesome.
