Saint Mary's Glacier?

Summit County/colorado people gather. A girl on the ski team at CU was talking about the glacier up there outside idaho springs. How is it? Me and my roommate were thinking about hiking up and skiing down someday soon.

skied it september 1. it used to be connected and there much more snow but since then it has separated into two parts, or three i should say. The upper part isn't really what u want to hit up, but the middle part is. its wide enough to where you can carve and u can get anywhere from 10-20 turns in depending on ur turn radius. then the very last part is the steepest pitch and isn't really worth skiing as ull only get 5 turns in or less. but yeah the hike is nice and the glacier is beautiful definitely go check it out.

this edit is beyond epic^

the main glacier is a bit further up the mountain and is like skiing on a frozen ocean... its so rough its hard to ski down but something you MUST experience at least once. people set up kickers and lil jibs that are fun, not sure what it will be like now, but i did it in the middle of summer, and it was sweet. during the spring there is a headwall that faces the lake and is seriously steep, and dangerous so be easy
