i cant aford a jacket from either sooo i came up with the idea of making a hybrid between the saga vest and the first drop sleeves

if can manage to do this it would cost about 128 instead of 269 or 275

i ski in newjersey most of the time as well

the only problem is that your sleves out be technical outerwear and your torso would be a hoody. at least youd have warm and dry arms

the only issue at the moment is how im going to connect the sleeves to the vest

so far i have the idea of the zipper

any one want to contribute some ideas?

so far im going with the black/gray vest

and im not sure on what sleeves

i might make the sleeves cordinate with what ever color pants i get

it would depend on whether the circumference of the arm holes in the vest would match the circumference of the zipper around the FD sleeves

Great post! You really added to the thread with that.

On a more thread related topic, email both saga and first drop and see what the circumference of the arms are. Then bring your idea to a tailor and tell him all the shit he needs to know to see if he can do it. If he gives you a thumbs up order them, get him to do it, and post that shit on newschoolers.

What? i quoted the first comment "may the force be with you" and i was just going to say my threads, so i could see what happens later with this, but then i saw that and lol'd

you could also sew a zipper onto the vest that fits the fd sleeves so you could still have a vest when you wanted.

As was mentioned earlier, either sewing the sleeves directly to the vest or putting zippers in are your best options. Unless you know what you're doing with a sewing machine or have a grandma or mom willing to teach you, it's a good a idea to have it done professionally.

Remember that in attaching these things, you'll have some extra fabric (known as seam allowance) that will have to come off of both the vest and the sleeves. If you can purchase slightly longer sleeves, that's not a bad idea.
