Runescape Oldschool Server

So if you played Runescape, you'll know it went to shiy after multiple graphics updates and the "evolution of combat". Fortunately, Jagex decided to poll the players to see if they should release a 2007 server, so now if you're a member ($3/month right now), you can play the oldschool server. I gave it a try and it kicks ass. It is how the game should have always been. It's updated so that the last skill that was released was Hunting.

definitely pretty cool that they did it, i could never just sit there and skill like that though i don't have the patience. i'll get like 3 or 4 levels then get bored
 
the only fun part of that game was f2p PKing like 10 years ago. I lol'd that they have come to this just to keep players from quitting.

i wasted too much time with this shit though back in the day. I just find it funny how much they hurt from all the updates that they thought were helping the game, when they ended up just making it a worse place.

This game. I hope I get to play it more. I logged on and it was like reliving my god damn childhood. Because, technically, almost a year of it was actually spent on this game.
 
SO TEMPTING!! UGH. Ive spent so much time on runescape it isnt even funny.... I dont want to go down that dark road AGAIN. Why must you tempt me.....
 
All my friends stopped playing and I just got bored. But I was 132 combat with 300m net. I made an account in summer for giggles and got 70 mage and 70 range and then stopped. I logged on like 2 weeks ago and couldnt wear Dhide cause of EoC. Over the last 3 years I played I just got overwhelmed with all the new armors and weapons they introduced. And dungeoneering should have been a minigame. Not a skill.
 
I dont feel as bad that I lost my phat because no one stakes because of the new combat system shit

fuck that. I played a lot of this game but if I was going to go back to something like this it would be world of warcraft. runescape is like wow for 10-13 year olds.

I hate these games anyways. Played a lot of em on and off until I was like 15 and then realized how much time I was wasting.
 
Its actually free for any one for 6 months. Sadly my mac is out of date and I need the new mountain lion to run the java needed for it. well worth it, I love this shit.

they messed up, if they just made it free i probably would be hooked and start paying but im not going to pay to try it out again, and they made all the accounts reset which sucks
 
Wow and modern RS are somewhat comparable. WoW and "oldschool" RS really aren't at all. They are similar only in that they are both medieval/fantasy based games.

I quit rs like 2 years ago and now it was just too temping with the oldschool servers. and since I don't work during winter I can no life the shit out of it haha(300th overall...)
 
I was into rs hardcore from like grade 4-7 then i quit and recently started playing it on and off. My friend gave a membership card as a joke gift at christmas, now i have an excuse to use it haha.
 
So many memories with quests. Already finished Priest In Peril and The Lost Tribe.

And for whoever said that it's $8 a month, that is incorrect. It's the normal price. 500k votes were needed to have the normal price, and there was 450k so Jagex took things from the 250k and 500k which was really nice of them.

Bump. I said I wouldnt do it again but I failed. It's like crack cocaine. I started an oldschool account a few days ago and I'm addicted again. Any body else playin?
 
Mmmm i love / loved runescape but i can't risk it running my life again... I was only like lvl 81... Might get back at it
 
This is solid news, just too bad you have to pay for it each month! The oldschool game has many memories with me
 
lol at all of you. EoC ruined what was already a terrible game to begin with. I refuse to pay jagex jack shit after watching them ruin their own game over the past decade+.
 
My parents banned me from this in 4th grade. I used to wake up at like 5 and play till school then after school play till like 11 which is late when your 9
 
I made an account and have been playing during christmas break, it's actually pretty fun, I've heard the new version is shit though, however my one moth membership will expire soon, maybe I'll renew in the summeradd me: runeschooler

Not going back to real runescape ever again unless they make eoc, pre eoc again. I have way too many days on my accounts to start 2007.

I play rsps's though. look up battlescape if you want a good rsps!
 
So by classic do they mean RS1 or RS2 (based on old school being the 2007 version)? I remember quitting when they brought RS2 out of beta in 2004ish.

Not that it matters because I was never a paying member (and couldn't hope to remember my account info).
