Rothbury and 10,000 lakes festival cancelled

What the hell? I saw on my cousins status that Rothbury is cancelled for 2010, so I said "10k it is then". But then, I look up 10klf, and low and behold, that is cancelled for 2010 as well. Where the hell are midwestern hippies/ jam band enthusiasts supposed to flock to this summer? Looks like I better start organizing a road trip to burning man or something.
 
I saw the announcement today as well. Truly devastating. Luckily there are many more fests out there, but I find it hard to believe anything can match Roth
 
ah hahahaha i live like 30 minutes from rothbury. and i would still not pay for my own ticket.
go to wheatland in remus michigan. its like 30,000 people but its not like OMG MTVVVVVVVVVVV GUYS. It's like bluegrass hippie music on the mainstage every day. But they have tents and shit with country music, alternative bands if you don't want to hang out at the mainstage. The best thing about it though is the blatant drug use with absolute zero officers around. Im talking about smoking 24x7 with the best people you can find any and everywhere. It was just funny to see people doing drugs....everywhere. Not just weed either.
I had a way better time than I did at Rothbury. I mean Rothbury has fucking police......police on golf carts and shit.
I mean sure they hung some lights in the forest and called it a magical forest.......and yeah whatever. I mean I know festivals are cool. I just liked to hate on the local one that just came up out of no where and charged out the ass for some meh talent.
I ended up picking up a couch on the way to the festival on the side of the road and we strapped it on top of the car and it was fuckin hottttt out that morning waiting in line. So we wait on the side of the road in couple mile long line smoking weed on the top of the roof of the car on a 3 person couch, than that couch become the center piece of our own tent city.
 
you, my dear, are an idiot. first off Wheatland is not 30,000 people. try more like 14,000. second off....really? can you come off as more of a douche bag. oh i was smokin weed on a couch. haha. good for you. yes there are cops at wheatland. did you not notice the big mecosta county sheriff bus out front? As a veteran of upwards of fifteen wheatlands and the past 2 rothburys i can tell you that losing this fest takes a hard hit on the music loving community. this is a sad, sad day indeed.
 
since you been to both you know what im talking about though. and i thought i read wheatland had like 25,000-26,000 yearly in attendance.
it doesn't matter really, a shitload of people is a shitload of people. while there may have been a cop bus / mobile unit at the entrance it doesn't excuse the fact that rothbury does in face have police strolling around in golf carts everywhere inside the actual venue. Meanwhile you can just smoke weed.....anywhere at wheatland.
sure your not going to find the acts, its a big loss for west MI, but you know that you can always head to (insert random summer festival)
I hated on Rothbury because it seemed like Rothbury / Double J was just joining the bandwagon to save themselves from going bankrupt. A number of these "lax stoner fests" have popped up over the years it seems, and Rothbury was just trying to be one of them.

Dude you know what the fuck I'm talking about if you go to Wheatland. Do you get nickel and dimed everywhere at Wheatland? Would you get charged $15 to swim in a lake at wheatland?
 
I really dont understand what happened to you at Rothbury that could possibly have made you hate it that much. I honestly believe it was the most fun 4 days of my life. And for the thing about cops at Roth...you must have been one of the people carrying around a 100 lb nitrous tank to get noticed my the police, cuz I know I did whatever the fuck I wanted the whole time, and so did everyone else.
 
Why don't you go to lollapalooza or something. Rothbury was awesome. Sherwood forest was awesome. and the cops really didn't bother anybody.

So glad we'll probably never be at the same festy
 
Bonnaroo has a pretty weak lineup this year. All good and nateva are looking like the places to be on the east coast.

Still sucks though. Never made it to 10k lakes.

As long as moe. is playing I'm sold everytime. Not the best full lineup. But still pretty good. Always some good late night acts. And 3 nights of moe. , jesus, how could you go wrong with that
 
Dude the latenights at sc are epic. Moe. is my band. So threee nights of them plus umph and an always good lineup is delicious. Can't go wrong. Moe,down. Favorite festy the last 3 years. Missed out before that but I'm young, it happens
 
If somebody can show me the text from the website that says you can go from the venue to the campgrounds and return Im going , But no return equals no go for me
 
Good lineup. Might go if my crew heads out and i have some extra loot. Def worth seeing this year,

To all the coachella people. Really isn't an amazing lineup this year. Been far better in past years. Probably won't go unless some different friend are going.

East coast has some sick festi lineups already bombin. And high sierra is looking gold if you're out west(same weekend as nateva on the east though)

flying lotus played bisco last year, Not a fan of biscuits though. govt mule moe. and cheese all through down, so does umph.

check out the nateva and all good lineups. Or even waka and high sierra.

bonnaroo and coachella aren't that good this year. Radiohead just toured last year or two years ago. fuck jay z at a festival. I'd go check out gorrilaz though

but lets not forget about wakarusa, shit is mad legit. its shitty that rothbury isnt gonna happen this year, but there are still some legit alternatives.
 
Yup. Waka is looking good this year. Just such a far drive for me. All good and nateva are east coat. Mountain jam and moe. down in the backyard almost.

Im thinking about it though. Worth it to see, and never been to waka before
 
this man knows what's up. and i thought i was one of the only jam band fans that isn't a huge fan of the biscuits too.

i really want to go to wakarusa and high sierra.
