Rossignol slat or scimitar

5'11 130lbs. i want a soft ski that i can butter around with. i hit jumps more often than rails and they are on the big side 40-60ft, but i am fine with a soft ski for them. i will use these skis around the mountain too, but primarily in the park. thanks.
 
I found the Scimitars to be stiffer then I imagined them being, still a fun ski to fool around with though. From what I've heard I dislike the sounds of the Slat, the rocker made the ski more playful and more buttery, and with camber I don't think it would be very fun
 
you are silly the slat has just as much rocker, just some camber to make em more stable, I think they are softer than the scimitar. Scimitars without rocker are S5 jibs and they stopped making those after the 10/11 season and they were pretty fun actually.

In all seriousness, I didn't know that they still had the same rocker, I figured that the Slat had mainly camber and just a bit of rocker in the tip and tail. If they are softer then the Scimitar, I'd say go for them.
 
The problem with the Scimitar is that it has about 18inches of effective edge (slight exaggeration...but only slight). When you put those things together almost no of the tip and tail touch each other. Combine that with the fact that most people detune/ruin the edge underfoot and you lose just about all control with those edges on hardpack/ice. This is why they changed the ski (the "u-turn" rocker Scimitar only lasted 1 season) and gave it some camber underfoot, to help give you some control and more effective edge. I would go with the Slat, it'll be just as soft and fun as the Scimitar but more skiable (especially if you want to take them off 60ft jumps, you'll want some sort of stable landing platform).
 
Def go wih the slat1 While last years scimitar was decent it honestly just wasn't a geat all around ski. I wasn't a huge fan of the full bananna rocker as it felt like you were on rails in heavy snow making it impossible to scrub speed. Yes they were super poppy and fun at times but it would have been nice to have a little camber under foot especially for rails. The new slat looks like a solid do anything ski and I would personally like to get my hands on a pair. The web site says it's 70%camber under foot with 30% rocker tip and tail. I looked at them in the store and I was impressed, seems like they finally made a great all mnt. ski you can take in the bowls and the park.
