Rossignol Scimitar

Hey, looking for some input on the scimitars as I'm still rocking my AR6's atm and looking for a new pair of skis. I only get about 10 days/season(most of them in 1 trip to the alps) seeing as I'm from Belgium(no mountains here), so I'd like something that's fun to ride in every condition. I like to ride pow whenever the conditions allow it but enjoy playing around and on the side of groomers too and about 15% park, but always looking to make some progression in there every season.

I'm looking into the scimitars because I really like what I've read about them, how they are playful yet still keep a great edge, and have a decent amount of pop, but wondering just how much of that is true.

My main questions are how well they hold up on hardpack despite the full rocker, seeing as if it didn't snow before/during my trip, that's where I'll spend like 50% of the time. How's the flex on it (I'm 6'1" 155 pounds so I'd go for the 181)? And also of course how do you guys like them in the park and on pow.

Any useful input from owners would be greatly appreciated and rewarded with k!

I don't know much about them, or anything Rossingol for that matter, not anymore. They seem to be a bit on the stiffer side though, maybe more of an all mountain or pipe ski? I'm not sure if they'd be my first choice for what you seem to be saying, will be an all mountain type of trip, with some park and pow in there.

Picked up a pair at the beginning of the season, and love them so far.

(I'm 5'9" 145 lbs, and ride the 174, mounted +5 with fks 140 for reference)

They are a medium flex-- more on the stiffer side if I had to choose. Stiffer in the nose than tail. The low rocker profile is great because, just like they say, you can set a carve and engage the whole edge. They absolutely rail on groomers, so that shouldn't be an issue.

They are great for off-piste as well. Full rocker keeps you from hooking up in the tail (to some extent). The 96mm underfoot is great for crud, and is decent in pow. It is definitely not a pow ski, but you will be able to get around on them just fine. Mounting them a little farther back than I did (maybe around +3 if you're still looking at park) would help with that a bit.

I love them for park. The full rocker helps a lot for butters and hook-free take-offs. The only thing I don't like about them is that the edges aren't that thick... so durability can be an issue. I got an edge crack on about my 5th day in the park this season. But seeing as how you will only have about 10 days this season, and 15% is in the park, this shouldnt be an issue.

Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot for the answers, mainly PC.Jibber, very helpful input. And read something that the durability on the edges wasn't the best but I'm more into jumps than rails anyway so that's not really a problem for me. And well, wasn't expecting it to handle as well in pow as hellbents but as long as they're a significant upgrade over my AR6's there i'm more than fine with it. +k!
