in our apt we have one t.v. This t.v has recently become modern warfare infested by the other 2 roommates so i never am able to use the t.v. would it be fair to propose only paying for the cable portion of the monthly bill? or does that simply not fly? im aware i could purchase my own t.v to solve, this but im not made of money and would rather not watch t.v at all.

thoughts?

Talk to them, figure out an arrangement.

Communication is key. You won't always agree on everything but generally people should be open to change things around to be fair to everyone else. Maybe you can snag more tv time, maybe you can pay less of the cable bill.

TALK TO THEM

only way you'll find out anything

be an adult, and split it 3 ways. it's the only fair way. or have a discussion if the house even wants to pay for cable tv.

what are you gonna do? start logging time for everybody that watches tv? hell no, split it up evenly or dump the service all together

There really isn't a need for cable as long as you guys have internet. Use the money your not spending for cable and use it for a faster internet so you can stream videos from the computer to your TV. The internet has everything you watch on cable.

Yeah that never works. Obviously it was already settup a certain way and agreed upon before everyone moved in.

It's different if 2 people wanted to get expensive cable and 2 people didn't/didn't watch tv.

You could prolly get some tv time if you talk to them . We can't help

i appreciate all the advice! of course im going to communicate with them, i just wanted see if anyone thought it was out of the question for me to bring it up.

Heres a bit more info

I moved in a month after the other 2 roommates and there the original system worked out well. We pay a decent amount for more then just basic and it was all fine and dandy we would all watch whatever was on and shit. Then the other roommates purchased the xbox and now the only thing on the tv is cod or skyrim.

i'd say, pay this months bill with them, but let them know that you don't want to continue to pay your share if you don't get to use the service. I had a housemate that never really watched much tv (not cause the others of us watched it all the time, he just wasnt that interested) and after 1 year he said that he'd no longer like to pay cause he never used it, and that was cool, cause we didnt expect him to continue to pay for a service he didnt use, but he DID pay for the time before he told us this.

i had the same shit happen and it doesnt fly.

you split the bill evenly, and it's up to you to use your fair share of what you're paying for.

like with groceries, you dont say "well i didnt eat that much so im not paying as much next time". nahhh you go splitties and make sure you get your share.

so just kick them off the fucking tv so you get your share.

you should bring it up by askin them if they/all of you together think it is a good idea to pay for cable when no one uses it. this will make them aware of the issue without you instantly going against them, and then you can all work it out together
