I won't even front, I am the biggest Level 1 fan boy that there may have ever been, is currently, or will ever be. Long before I ever even conceived the idea to submit a Superunknown video I was obsessed with that cursive logo, and the DVD menu song from Forward will forever be burned in my brain from falling asleep to it for what had to have been years.

Like many of you I loved Dave Crichton's part and it will forever be one of the best, but so many people slept on the nuances of Liam's part, the DL Incognito song somehow meshing seamlessly with every move he made. With hundreds and hundreds of views it was my favorite. Personally, I preferred Forward to High Five and Shanghai Six, until LSS came out and sent my whole world spinning. And then came Real Time, a movie that I think was greatly overlooked, and I became totally obsessed with the Denver storm section and really began to chase urban. Real Time year I actually emailed Josh trying to get them to do urban up in Anchorage, to which he replied that if Level 1 actually ever made it to Alaska he hoped they'd be heli skiing. Little did we both know Anchorage area urban would be a Level 1 staple from 2010-2015.

Life went on, college went on. I had a real job as a Civil Engineer, still managing to film a full part with our local crew. Randomly, well past the Superunknown deadline, I decided to throw all of my shots together and send it to info@level1productions.com. Months went by, and I actually forgot about it.

With almost everything in life, your path is forged by decisions that you make. In my case, the single biggest turning point that altered the course of my life forever was made by Josh Berman, Freedle Coty, and Kyle Decker. Every single thing that I have in my life right now I owe to them and the choice that they made for me. Skiing aside, I would have never worked in oil and gas, never bought the land to build my house, never gotten on with Moment just to be dropped and build my own skis, never met Hans and OC at Armada, and ultimately, probably never would have met my wife at the perfect time, meaning I would have never gotten to watch her bring a beautiful baby girl in to the world.

Oh and the skiing... now days people are used to having their lives recorded. That wasn't always the case, and for me its completely insane that I got to have a highlight reel of my 20s. Not many people my age can say that, I get to watch my triumphs and my struggles along with some of the most amazing people I've had the privilege of meeting. All of that, again, based on someone else's decision.

I know there are likely hundreds of stories about how Level 1 movies changed people's lives, this is just mine.

I truly love Level 1 with all of my heart, which is why Romance is such a perfect name for this movie.

And with all of that, HOLY FUCK, they actually hid the trailer in the calendar:

I'm not going to give you the link, you need to find it

hell of a way to go out boys.

Hint: its DEFINITELY not on 4/20/69 ;)

Honestly thank you so much level 1 for teaching me that skiing isn’t just about getting the most days or skiing the best conditions, it’s about skiing with friends and having fun no matter if it’s 20 inches of pow or ice coast.

hell yea. Thanks for sharing. I was gonna write something similar, but yours is way better because well, you actually filmed with them. Thanks for the inspo over the years level 1, we love you.

Haven't posted on here in years but feel like this is a good time to do it (as if anyone cares - it's the internet)

Honestly got a little emotional watching the trailer. I remember seeing Turbo on my friend's iPod as a 7th grader in 2007, and having my entire perspective of freeskiing blown apart in that middle school classroom. Up until then I had only ever known of the Warren Miller films that I went to each fall with my dad. Since then, I've been to many of the SLC showings and had the thrill of waiting for the DVD to ship to my house so my friends and I could watch it and get unbelievably stoked for winter. I would watch Refresh on my iPod nano, under the desk, every day during my sophomore year english class. The walls of my childhood bedroom and current apartment are plastered with Level 1 movie posters, the classic script logo glued to my car, computer, and various pieces of furniture.

Wallisch's part from Turbo got it all started. Then P White's Sun Valley front flip and After Dark part. Pollard's segment in Sunny (actually the vibe of that entire movie was so good). Wiley's segment from Eye Trip (to Magic by Ladyhawke - the editing was electric). As a Snowbird local, I'm obligated to say the Snowbird spring sesh in Pleasure ranks up there at the top with the party wave and Thayne slaying the massive booters. Will and LJ had my jaw on the floor every year with their antics. While somewhat controversial in the community, Level 1's introduction of Magnus and LSM brought such a unique flavor to skiing and have produced a creative flair to urban that no other big media company has yet to replicate.

Level 1's films pushed me to ski for the thrill, the joy, and the love of putting wooden planks on frozen water. You guys have made a huge impact on my life and I'm so damn grateful for what y'all have done for freeskiing.

So thank you Level 1. Thank you Newschoolers. Thanks to all the homies out there that keep skiing moving forward. Much love!

So so so sick. Seems like people went hard as shit on their last movie!! Backcountry doubles look fucked up. Thank you love you muchos besos level 1.

WE CARE! Thank you for sharing. Hearing stories like this over the years were the single biggest motivating factor for us to go out and do it again every Winter!

For me, it's basically September '98-February '05. The emergence of The New Canadian Air Force when MSP's Sick Sense dropped the fall of 1998; hooking up with Poor Boyz at Powder's Superpark May 2000; getting an internship and full-time job with Freeskier Mag in June 2000. The rest is history. Great years. Really exciting times.

I hope, and i’m pretty sure it’s not the end of level 1 and they’re just moving to shorts or bi-annual films because I’ve been obsessed since my friend showed me Refresh when it came out and I made the full switch from rollerblading.

Every year since i’ve got the films, watched them endlessly and have dreamed of being involved with one, originally as a skier and now hopefully in the near future as a sponsor.

Haven't posted on here in years. Wanted to come see the reaction to the trailer, which is just top notch as always. Level 1 is the most consistent company out there in making me hyped to go ski. The first Level 1 film I owned was Forward, which honestly I didn't think I was going to like because too much hip-hop. It was actually on NS where I was messaging with Downey and he convinced me to buy the flick because there was a good mix of music. That wasn't the case really but it was a good film for sure. High Five, Shanghai Six, LSS, Real Time, and Turbo were such amazing films in my opinion. I live in Boulder now and I drive by the rail that Travis Redd almost greased in High Five almost every day.

Berman once told me a pair of next year's Seth Pistols for an incredible price because my brand new skis had been stolen. Filming for Real Time, they stopped in Bailey to do a rail at a church where I was with some friends who were also sliding that rail and we all had a great time. Such a chill crew. Looking forward to this year's film and while I'm bummed it means the end of annual films, I hope they continue!

Also, that Superpark idea better come to fruition!

Like a band that you always come back to, Level 1 will always be the standard against which i measure other ski movies. Thank you for all of the inspiration level 1, I can't wait to see the epic conclusion of your 20 years of mastery.

I love Level 1 and their films. I have been re watching some of the newer ones and just discovering some of the old ones. I also love the fact that there is such a positive thread on here after all the beef and infighting that has been going on recently. Now that Romance is the last annual film of Level 1, we just have TGR putting out annual mainstream ski movies.

A heavy trailer to watch as Level 1 movies have forever been a heavy inspiration. So many emotions invoked over the years through these films and the motivation to ski that comes with them.

Ahmet’s opener in Eye Trip was all I watched for years to get stoked about skiing- can’t believe this is the last annual film. Wow! Looks soooo incredible though.

To be honest I didnt see the earlier half of level 1 films til these weekly releases (thank you for making em free btw) I think refresh was probably their first full length movie I saw, being in the slightly younger generation and usually having free access to PBP and msp movies through both my parents jobs I really only saw from eye trip and up. However I remember seeing movies like eye trip (still have the double sided poster from the case ready for my new houses room) and after dark and being blown away by segments like that insane double sided gap landing, parker whites parts, Phil and all of the greats. Now being older and looking at the og films it brings me back to the edits of that generation I saw growing up, constantly and still on the weekly watching Corey's LSS segment, old wallisch, junction133 videos and others I truly appreciate where skiing has come and find it amazing that Berman had the chance of documenting 2 decades of it. I never really rewatched their movies just cause I havent had access to them really (my work has eye trip and I make sure its played more than snowboard movies to keep me hyped for ride breaks) but still shots like Ahmets 180 off a cliff in eye trip, wallischs 4 pretz 2 on the dfd, and others still go through my head and blow my mind even with the skiing people do today. Also really cool seeing the old movies urban shots and seeing rails like the wave, and that double barrel down rail by the river in manchester NH that I've driven by to go skiing since I was a kid appear in segments by the likes of my forever idol Dumont. Last year was my first winter in utah and seeing the zig zag premiere in slc triggered me to get ready for ski season and helped me realize how insane and fun backcountry skiing looked and then when the snow hit it all came together that skiing park or pow with the homies was maybe the best thing I could have in my ever so fortunate life. So shoutout to level 1, I'm happy that even after companies like PBP dissapeared they kept going on having movies with solid mixes of all aspects of skiing in films. I know only the lengthy movie side is done but huge respect on helping change the ski world and inspiring all of us forever, really keeps me going to be able to watch the history on my favorite thing in the world unfold and keep changing for the better.

Cant wait for the rest of the releases to watch (especially next week for LSS) and whether I'm with the homies or not its gonna keep me in my mindset of always being stoked to ski and have a blast, thanks level 1 keep making the best ski videos ever. It's almost september everyone, for us out west that means snow may be falling in under 50 days so get hyped. Yewwww!

Also haven't posted here in a few years, so why not post here.

The podcasts and reposts of old movies, most of which I have on DVD (!!!), has revamped my stoke. So many epic moments associated with L1P movies between 2007 and 2011 that fired up our crew year after year. Soundtracks, editing, openers and closers (who's got it?!), hiding bonus features (still not convinced I found all of them), and what new shots could Wallisch or whoever line up for their segment.

So many memories and feelings associated with these films, including the trailers (the most hype!) and songs I still listen to. Thanks for the past 20 years!

I’m upset that the next generation of NS noobs will no longer be trolled by the level 1 calendar.

We will forever be hiding shit in the calendar... that won't ever change, regardless of whether or not we're putting out annual features.

I love your passion and I love what Level 1 has done. I've been a fan since the beginning. I'm not only a fan, but I'm also a director at MSP. Props go to where they're due. Well done, Josh, Freedle and crew!

Level 1 was always my biggest inspiration, started skiing when Refresh came out and its been my all time fav ski movie ever since. Really thankful for the opportunity to ski with the crew at last years SU shoot, definitely dream come true and one of the best weeks in my life. Romance trailer gave me Gooosebumps, cant wait to see it. And please dont leave skiing and give us another movie some day in the future. much love

Level 1, thank you for everything you have done for the ski industry, we are eternally greatful. And OP that is a badass story brotha.

Been watching a ton of Level 1 during quarantine and listening to the podcasts. This thread is sickkkk. Even watching the trailer again brings back a ton of nostalgia
