They're just trying to stay fresh, keeping their mag safe isn't gonna boost their sales. They've got plenty of attention and its not like people will never buy their mags again...

Oh look, people who get offended by everything are getting offended.

Sure, it may have been in slightly poor taste, but that being said, so is almost everything the media does these days. But like everything else, this doesnt effect most of the people acting so offended over it, and its precisely the reaction Rolling Stone wanted/expected.

threads like this are going to make people go out and buy the magazine to see what you are talking about. like the other guy said any publicity is good publicity because even if people are disgusted by what rolling stone did they are going to buy it to check it out
 
i agree b ut this thread isnt goimg to make anyone buy that magazine. People will buy the magazine just to see what it says, but in the end I think it will tarnish Rolling Stone's reputation
 
sounds like rolling stone isnt gonna have a problem selling the issue, so people should just lighten up and not get so butt hurt over everything thats a tad bit offensive

while it's not the best idea(people here in MA are kind of pissed), its a good sales move. But to be honest they could have put the BPD on the cover and run a special issue on the bombings. But to be honest, that magazine sucks dick when it comes to politics because it's just a bunch of biased bullshit called "reporting"
 
my only real issue with is is the way they portray him on the cover.

why exactly is he being depicted as if he's some front man of a new indie band that's coming onto the scene? It's like a glorified, sexified image. They could have just used his mug shot or something and it wouldn't have caused as much of a stir, guarantee it.

Shut the fuck up OP and to anyone who thinks Rolling Stone has ever been conservative when it comes to controversial topics. They've had hard hitting journalism ever since the days of Hunter S. Thompson, this cover is only a reflection of that. Even when it comes to music their covers have pushed boundaries.
