Rollerblading / skiing

no, this is not about how rb tricks are popular in skiing or vice versa.

no, i just wanna ask people that are doing both, how you can compare the level of balance you need? i am only skiing, and i really appreciate the fact of having 1,8 m of wood under my feet to support my balance. i just cant imagine how hard it is to land anything on those thingys. so, hows about that? do you have to execute stuff more exact to land better?

and the second thing: what about the thing, that whenever you crash, you either land on metal, concrete, wood, asphalt or a mix of all of them? i would say that snow is a pretty good thing to land on, and i just dont feel like i could go for a frontflip with nothing softer than concrete around. how do you handle that? isnt it that big of a deal? do you just train more since you dont need a lift, so youre tryin the tricks more often?

bottom line: how the hell do you stay on your blades when doing flips/spins/stay alive with all that hard stuff around.

enlighten me

rollerblading makes you a better skier, no way around that. yes it is harder to land tricks.

well theres also wood. its not that bad to crash on a wood ramp, you slide at least. Concrete is hard and tears your shit up no matter how you look at it. But, most rollerbladers I know aren't that focused on airs really. I think the biggest airs we ever did were like 12 - 13 stairs. Mostly just grinding and getting tech. But I dunno, skiing is way faster so its like, would you rather fall onto concrete at 15 mph or hard snow at 40? its about the same.

not at all. i can do both and i'm definitely better at rollerblading than skiing, but i don't think its hard. If you can ski good i think you will be able to skate a a decent level.

Rollerblading should have nothing to do with skiing. Skateboards help with balance too and you don't look like a douchebag. Just my opinion though. I'm sure some people enjoy it.

i love to rollerblade, its a little easier to grind i think. thats just my opinion. its harder to get onto rails on blades than skiing, but its much easier to balance. skiing is alot harder in terms of balancing. spins on blades are also pretty easy

ok heres the low down. when ur inline skating grinds are way more tech. the angles of ur boots need to be persice on rails to lock in if not ur fucked. landings on jumps have to be perfict no back seat. and it requires alot more strength to skate the whole time to get speed.

it hurts a lot more eating shit on pavement or wood. compared to snow which is always softer. even ice isnt bad because of ur snow suit.

i skated for the first time since last summer and i landed a few sick movbes. more to come hopefully. but when u eat shit it really hurts and u jsut get use to being beaten up. i usta be way bigger in to it but im jsut pussy now. hahaha

thats not what he's asking. kind of a useless post.
yes it is harder, i do both, i know longer skate very often but although the two are similar they arent if that makes sense. picture snowblades minus the snow and BAM!

sort of thread related but i just got some skates sunday and was just wondering if there is a site like this for rollerblading? or like a beginners guide? i can do threes and stuff and can cruise pretty well, feel comfortable going around and stuff but i was struggling on rails and apparently i was trying the more difficult ones, so ya basically what should i start off trying to do and than how should i work up from that?

be-mag.com is like a rollerblading forum, i dunno if its still up and Im too lazy to check.

balance on skates when doing spins/flips just comes with timeI find that as my balance gets better on skates my tricks on skis become much easier

What are you trying to accomplish? 4 useless posts in one thread? What do you mean by "yall are gay".

What are you referring to as "cool".....

no. i live in Singapore. its 1:04 am. tomorrow for you.

also to that faggot who said im misspelling on purpose, no, im fucking not. if you want me to take the time to make every post coherent and proof read, then i will. it doesnt change the fact that im drunk.

I guess i just never got that whole fruit boot thing. I mean maybe if they didn't flail so much it would look cool but there's like no style to what they're doing. It's just ballet on rails or jumping off of really tall shit.

Hey fuck off man. Rollerblading has plenty of style. You should see your mom flail when I'm riding her with my skates on. Phuck you wood pusher.

Come on. Its stale and old. I blade with mostly skaters and there is no hate. I am just as stoked for one of my friends as they are on me.

^^ this. I skated this weekend, and busted my leg up good on the concrete. But I also had a few good wipeouts in the snow last season as well. Skating gets me in the zone like skiing does, I don't think about it, I just do it and go with the flow.

The balance is very different.. but still very the same. Like people were saying, rollerblading is a lot more technical because if you don't get your skates lined up basically perfectly, you're more than likely about to get broke. You can't land backseat at all, which took me a while to get used to.

Crashing is also very different kinda for everyone. If you're skating street or outdoor parks, the crashes are going to be pretty fucking bad because it's going straight to regular concrete which tears you up. Basically you just get into the mindset that you can't fall, it's not even an option.

Most of my time is spent in an indoor park though, and when I fall, I slide, which is awesome. Usually I have time to sit on my skate so my bails aren't bad at all, kinda fun actually. But you do get the falls when you get absolutely fucked, because even though the wood and concrete is slick, it's still wood and concrete. Haha.

I tried roller bladeing once and imo it was actually really easier its much easier to spin and stuff because you don't have the extra swing weight of skis
