Rollerblading is the best crosstraining.

look at tanner and candide, one of if not the best skiers there are, and they both skateboard. pollard is sick, but he is more of a bc jibber, where snowlerblades woldnt do shit to help, and remember he snowboards too, which is the whole reason he designed the lizzies and bacons, he didnt try to make skis feel like rollerblades or snowblades.

you need to be in good ass shape if you want to ski hard, otherwise youre going to destroy yourself the first big fall you take. and rolling has destroyed my knees, back, wrists, and has blessed me with a wonderfully painful strained achilles tendon.

however.

rolling is excellent cross training if youre either a) skating a park using lines and transfers and actually pumping, or b) skating handrails and gaps when you dont fall. skating a sick park or a sick bowl is so good, because you work your whole body, not just your legs or helping your eye/foot/body coordination. and if youre really pumping and carving a park/bowl, it also helps you make quick changes in direction/body position, and helps you pick out lines where other people may have missed them.

rolling helps for grinding exactly because it is 'easier' to balance. if youre not focused only on staying on the rail, you can work on getting your posture and stance correct, solid, and proper. in my opinion, using the feel of grinding on blades helps totally helps you visualize how you need to slide a rail on skis. when i do a rail on skis, i think first of how it would be approached on my skates.

and if you can land fakie over a 16 set, landing switch on a big jump is a fucking cakewalk.

wow dude.

you are fucking dumb to not see the connection between moto x and bmx.

and fucking SKIING AND ROLLERBLADING.

the early grabs were taken from rollerblading.

the only thing you told me that is different from rollerblading are the presses.

oh.

you fucking retard...

you forgot to mention that skiing also has one footed grinds.

so does rollerblading.

the end.

FUCK YOU YOU FUCKING RETARD.

yes.

pollard wanted skis that held up in deep snow as well as a snowboard.

but if he was that fucking wet over snowboarding why wouldnt he just fucking quit skiing?

MY ORIGINAL FUCKING POINT: rollerblading IS THE BEST CROSSTRAINING. i brought pollard into this because i realized that technically skiboarding is a better way to improve your skiing because it teaches you to not depend on your poles, and to stomp the fuck out of landings.

pollard is obviously over skiboarding because skiboards dont have the versatility f skis. and he made the elizabeths and bacons to make skis even more versatile.

pollard is just pushing the sport.

period.

but like i said.

HELLA PEOPLE ASSOCIATE IT WITH ROLLERBLADING.

i dont care if some fucking gay ass 15 year old skateboarder likes skiing and not rollerblading... people's mindset is this

snowboarding ---> skateboarding

rollerblading ----> skiing

people think of skiboarding as "mini-skis, there isnt that much of a difference. and people who were big into waterskiing call skiboards "trick skis"

its all the same.

like it or not.

bring on the hate.

dude, nobody thinks of moto x and bmx as being very similar, bmx is like a totally different thing, sure there are supermans and stuff like that, but you cant even spin on a dirtbike, or grind, plus moto x guys hit 100+ foot jumps like its nothing all the time.

and with skiing, what i meant was that we can only do one grind thats similar to rollerblading, just doing the rails, sure some people do 1 footers once and awhile, but nobody likes that mostly because it looks like shit, and because its trying to copy rollerblading, which nobody wants. and our grabs are totally different too, we have two boards while they have boots, we have like 20 different grabs and mabye 3 or 4 can be done on rollerblades.

you can find similarities with every sport, i did alot of rollerblading a couple years ago and i got pretty damn good too, i skate too, and i used to snowboard before i skiied. out of all those id say snowboarding is by far the most similar, the movements are similar, the feel is totally similar, both are on snow, both have edges, both flex.

and sure "HELLA" people associate skiing with rollerblading, but HELLA more people dont. seriously , how would seth skiing big lines, or pollard jibbing in the bc look similar? its totally different, everything about it is different, the only similarity is that they both are facing forward. the biggest similartiy is probably on rails, but still there is one grind or two if you count the gay 1 footers, that are the same, thats it.

and why do you have to get so angry? im sorry if i hurt your feelings, ill try not to.

stop using the word best! i hate it when people use that to describe something, it means nothing

ok little dude.

i officially dub the "retarded"

first of all: dirtbikers are doing 360s.

second of all: dirtbikers dont grind because they dont have pegs.

third of all: you are saying they are different because the size of jumps. that is stupid.

4th of all: you said no one likes one footers because its trying to be rollerblading and no one WANTS that, the problem is that you can WANT all you fucking please, but until you fucking do something (like killing all the thugs) that keeps us further from rollerblading, SHIT AINT HAPPENIN.

5th, and FINALLY:

you just said seth and pollard are nothing alike.

you are fucking stupid.

using that same retarded logic i can say that vert skating and street skating are not really the same sport, becuase they look a little different.

and as we know, that shit aint true.

i am waiting for you to address the fact the skiboards are just mini skis, and how you said skiboarding and rollerblading are the same.

and since skiing and skiboarding are pretty much the same fucking thing, we can see that rollerblading and skiing really arent as far apart as you would like to think you ignorant little prick.

wow they do 3's and how many can actually do that?

if they had pegs it would still be impossible.

and yeah jump size does make a difference, the tricks are much bigger and totally different because of it.

i meant that seth and pollard skiing arent similar to rollerblading.

and i didnt say rollerblading and skiboarding are the same.

and please stop getting so angry, it makes you sound stupid.

yeah skiing and rollerblading are very different, and people do not think of them as being similar. skiing is closest to snowboarding if anything. why cant we just have our own sport? stop fucking trying to make it into something its not, skiing is skiing, nothing else. you can do anything for crosstraining and it will help alot, nothing is the best, especially not rollerblading.

back to the roots....

skiing was around 80 years before rollerblading. and surfing is what inspired snowboarding, not skateboarding. but I'm just talking out of my ass, I dont know any historical facts.

ah. very true.

but.

we are talking about the modern incarnations of each sport, whcih, in my opinion, owe ALOT to their street counterparts.

i dont know i didnt bother reading much of this thread but anyone who hates on rollerblading is retarded and should be shit on. for me there one in the same thing. skating helps my skiing and skiing def also helps my skating. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8tHc72oMoxg how can you hate on that. and furthermore not see the corrolation to skiing.

How is snowboarding so much like skiing in terms of control? Heels and Toes vs edges of skis? I can see a little crossover but not that much. I can't snowboard for shit but I'm getting pretty reasonable at skiing, mainly because I rollerbladed and ice skated for the last 10 years or so. The Balance on a snowboard is totally different, transferring from your uphill foot to your downhill depending on whether you're turning etc.

P

lease correct me if I'm talking crap though :D

it is different because of the heel toe part, but the movements are the same, just side to side instead of forward and back, there isnt much difference there, the feeling and everything else about it is very similar, mostly because of carving technique, skis and snowboards are pretty much the same shape, both have edges, both flex, both ride on snow, both have similar characteristics on rails, same size jumps. there are more similarities than with any other sport.

There you are wrong my friend. They actually do some spins on dirtbikes. Ever seen one of those cork 3 looking tricks they do ? Yea, straight up. Boo YA!

bigger does not make it that much different.

it just makes it BIGGER.

grinding on a dirtbike is possible, its just pointless.

there are a bunch of guys who do 3's.

you are seriously a dumbass and i hope you suffocate in a treewell this winter.

yeah dude and those 3's they do on dirtbikes are so similar to bmx!! thats why even with a 100+ ft. jump they still can only do 3's! and im sure its the same movements and everything.

oh wait..... no its a huge difference, its a 25 lb. bike and a 230 lb. dirtbike, 3's on a bmx bike take very little skill or effort, people can do them on flat ground with no problem. while a 3 on a dirtbike is one of the hardest tricks there are.

suck yourself off you faggot.

bmx and moto-x are so damned closely related its not even funny.

ironically i ski and skateboard, but my friend snowboards and inlines....? what is the world coming toooo?

HAGGAR;

Dood. It's just a sport.

Here you promote rollerblading vigoroysly (sp?)

And on the other thread hate mogul skiing with the same (or even more) effort.

Funny, isn't it?

Get over it. Rollerblading surely helps with freestyle stuff, nobody isn't argiung against that. But it doesn't help much (or much more than any other sport) with the edging, turns, feel of snow, speed etc.

To each of its own I guess. If you're into grinds and stuff, go rollerblading if you want to. But, please, do not try to convert others into something...cause there really isn't anything to convert. Hey,I just noticed that grabbing your boot looks a bit same like grabbing your skis...any news here? (And it is a good thing at all in the end, I wonder? :))

Btw. I snowboarded almost exclusively for about five years. Now I look for THAT feeling in Pow w/ skis too. Perhaps it's actually good to try something DIFFERENT as crosstraining? (Warning: You might even get some new ideas and influences)

i love rollin i just started again this year after about a 3 year break its so fun and it kills time in the off season....on a side note if anyones trying to buy some skates or trade for somethin i got a pair of razor murda 2's in sick shape ill part with

your a fag, go take more gay pictures of yourself doing fag poses with your rollerblades on. your not cool and your not right your just a stupid fuck ass.

yeah dude!! fuck this guy, i want his ass so bad, we can lay in bed and roll his rollerblade wheels around and have angry sex all day!!

SELF TIMER!

not.

i was chillen at some spot with my friend kyle and he took out his camera.

so i posed.

hella gay.

whatever.

girls wanna fuck me, so i am cool with that pose.

^ ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahha

everything you have said has made everyone on this terrible website cclearly know you are plain and simply a lesser human being than a 1 armed, 1 legged, french prostiute that is blind, deaf and dumband is so insecure about thier own incredible small penis and extreme sexual orientation that they go rollerblading to try and cover it all up.

you sir are quite possibly the worst human being i have ever come in contact with.

yeah those are the best cross training for balence, but since i have an overly large trampoline....i can do flips with my skis on on it.
