Roller Help

So my dad thinks that we should use rollers as a drop in. He wants to use wooden dowels or something similar. So, we come to a problem. How should we make the rollers spin? We don't want to just have wood against wood or anything, he was thinking maybe some kind of bearing system. Any advice is much appreciated! Oh and metal is out of the question, but supplies aren't a problem ( he is a carpenter).

try to use that dough roller or whattever its called and make notches in the wood

Instead of using rollers you could take wooden dowels and cut pvc pipes to fit over the dowels so no bearing system needed. depending on how wide your pipe is they could actually roll like rollers, or you could have them fit tight to the dowels and just slide down them.

I did the same sorta thing but instead of rollers i just screwed pvc on without rolling it works very well,
