Roller Blading compared to skiing?

I've moved into a house in Bozeman, and one of my roommates showed me this roller blade video today,
. It blew my mind how similar the tricks are to skiing. I was wondering how well my muscle memory from skiing would transfer over to roller blading. Is sliding hand rails as simple as this guy makes it look? I am aware how much gnarlier of a learning curve rollerblading has due to the fact that its all on concrete. But this does look really damn fun, and I kinda wanna try. Any Roller Blade Skiers out there please enlighten me. Thanks!

We have a rollerblading unit in gym and my buddies and I just pretend it’s skiing and we just fuck around

You can kind of notice what skiers blade by how they land. Watch any Khai Krepela edit and you'll notice especially in his switch landings.

They're pretty similar to skiing. Well more of skiboards = rollerblades. They're also having a 'come back' with J Skis and Moment skis making them.

honestly its pretty different. both sports have definitely influenced each other but riding skis and riding blades are definitely two totally different experiences. with that said its also fun as shit. blading is definitely taking more from skiing nowadays than vice versa and depending on what you do with your setup you can really just fuckin charge around a skatepark like youre ripping a terrain park.

if you can slide rails on skis you can do a frontside grind on blades but thats about as far as it got me. balancing on rails and ledges is way harder and there are so many different ways to grind it makes skiing on rails look like a joke.

if you have time check out this video from bacemint i watch it like twice a week

hmu if you want to get into it, i can give you some tips on what to buy and what to avoid and stuff

That video brings back memories I had from my early years of rollerblading. I owned pair of RB Edwards pro model and K2 Fattys back then.

Sled Dogs snowskates originally based from Minnesota from 90s made by rollerbladers seems to be making a comeback after the original owners filed for C13 bankruptcy years ago. I had their late 90s k9 models, theyre slow as hell & is only decent for urban hardpacked snow IMO then Canon and JLev's Line skiboards came out. This was the era before twin-tip skis.

Locking in rails is definitely a little trickier and grinds can get way more technical than skiing. Also concrete hurts. probably just shouldn't try

throwback to sizzam923 blade tutorials

Besides water skiing, its as close as you can get. Hitting rails with roller blades is probably the best way to up your rail game during the off season

when i was little i used to blade on a small pvc rail in my yard concrete to concrete over grass and i would practice my skiing tricks everyday. It helped my rail skills a ton. I think its pretty similar to skiing just harder witch makes the tricks easier when you try them on skis.
