Rodeo 7s

ive always thought rodeo 7s are the dopest trick but ive never done one, and wanna try some on a smallish jump this weekend. any tips? im alright at rodeo 5s, but i havent been hitting jumps much recently

i feel like a lot of times, more so than other tricks, people seem to set it mostly like a 5 and then sneak in the extra 180...what do you guys do differently/how do you visualize and set the trick?

thanks

yeah i agree, but for the sake of being a pussy do you think it's smart to just set a rodeo 5 too hard and find that 180 late?

(for learning them at least)

I'd probably start at that, try getting that rodeo 5 down really clean then just try and keep your hips still moving so you can get that 180 when the 5 is over

okay first of all, you shred dude

anyway, looks like you accidentally just linked your dub flat at kwood but i found what you were talking about in your videos and:

see that's what i sometimes don't get with rodeos. on that one it looks like you definitely set it forward, as opposed to letting your feet slip out from under your like a backie or something

is that something you can start to do when you get used to it? or just how you set it? the one time i tried setting it like that (for a rode 5 i fuckin ate it

make sure when you do the 180 its after the 5 otherwise backslap city population you

the other way to do it is make it kinda bio-y

Try to set it flatter(less flippy) than if you were going for a five. This makes it easier to spin more in a rodeo. when you're coming around really throw your hands forward cause often people end up hip/butt checking when learning them.

Good luck dude!!

This. try mute or safety, set 5, and when you spot around at 450, pull the grab and it'll spin ya around. Also, make sure you have a good solid takeoff in the front of your boots, or you'll land backseat.

rodeo 7 (and 9) is still my favourite trick. I just love the feeling of the last 360 in it. It feels totally different than a rodeo 5 to me, you actually feel like you are spinning, but you can spot the landing for the whole last 360 since you are like facing down when you start it. It's like floaty takeoff like a rodeo 5 but then as soon as you are on your back you spin around so you see the landing sooner than a rodeo 5 and you float that shit out the whole rest of the trick.

fuck I love bigger rodeos. so much more fun than corks.

A lot easier than you'd probably think. If you have 5's down, you will get 7 pretty easy. When you're coming out to land switch, just move your head and look for the landing at 720. It will come around no problem.

lot of good advice in this thread actually. but ya man if you got 5s down pretty good, then the rodeo 7 will come easy for ya man. good luck , spot your landing ( very easy with rodeos imo ) and stick it clean ! oh and have fun homie ! good luck.

Also whenyou get morecomfortable, try carving off the jump. I like carving hard left when i do them do when i take off, can just kick me feet straight out to the side as fast as possible

well for better or worse i don't do almost any tricks without a carve so you bet that's how itll be haha

anyway, i didn't try any r7's this weekend, i was skiing with some half gaper friends and didn't have time to think about new tricks and concentrating, just did backies and underflips all day

next weekend though im def goin for some, thanks for all the great answers in here

I usually dont carve my tricks either, but as soon as i started, my rodeos came to my feet much easier especially on my 7s. I used to do 5 to 7 until i learned to carve more. It really makes a huge difference to land straight up rather than so backseat. Hope you stomp!

sorry, i used a dumb double negative there-- i always carve my tricks no matter what haha. i bet id look like a gaper if i tried even a 3 without carving

thanks a lot for the tips, im def gonna go with some other park skiers next weekend and get in the zone to try some r7s

Toss it as much more of a spin, instead of looking straight up over your shoulder, look a little back too (like a spin). Never landed a flip on snow but I went from flat 3 to flat 7 on an airbag with that technique, hope I'm qualified enough for you to take me seriously...

for sure, when youre putting stuff to your feet on an airbag you can easily tell if you "would've stomped it" on snow

hopefully i get a chance to try some r7s soon

I find that if you set it a little more forward than a rodeo 5 it comes around as true rodeo 7. as long as youre not springing off your toes like a misty and youre still dipping in to rodeo it comes around nice.
