Rockered Park skis

I'm currently interested in maybe buying a pair of alpha 1s but as a big guy i'm worried that i'll overpower them. I'm 6'4", 220 in the east, and an advanced skier. The other skis i've considered are ar7s and volkl walls. Has any one of similar size had any experience with rockered skis? Thanks and k+ for your help

You could find a longer rockered park ski, something like a 181 or larger. K2's 179s are about 183s, but there other options out there if you really want a rockered park ski.

You need all the running length you can get and something on the stiffer side will help. I had a few runs on the longest Alphas last winter and they ski way short. 185 Dynastar Spins are pretty much the longest park skis out there just now, or last year's 184 Extreme is a bit longer, or the original non-rockered 189 Fujas which is way long if you can find some. 185 Walls are more like 180 and a 179 K2 is more like 183.

Awesome advice thanks man. When you say 189 fujas, are you talking about last season's or the year before?

Email me then, if people show us interest we'll make them.

For your height, I'd try something maybe a little wider in lieu of finding a true 80 underfoot rockered park ski, if it exists I havent heard of it. Something fatter wont be as great in the air or help you with big jumps, but it might help you get a feel for it.

Other way to go would be to home-rocker some used park skis, which can work... just preserve whatever camber underfoot they have if possible, cause theres a noticeable difference between flat underfoot and cambered underfoot.

Yeah not last year's, the year before (the 08/09, original, non-rockered, these ones: http://apparel.outdoorgearhouse.com/img/1/4238.jpg ). 95mm waist and they measure about 195 compared to most skis (longer than my 193 Thugs). Not too stiff but they're long and that's what I was looking for. Before I found mine new there were a few guys offering me theirs - try ozee for the 08/09 (used I think) or cdawg offered me some new 09/10 ones. The 09/10 only had a tiny bit of rocker to them so they'd still be alright.

Other than that, 185 Spins are the longest park ski out there now (low tips and tails = long running length), I was on those last winter and they're pretty nice, stiffer than most (I'm 6'4" and about 185. Or 185 ARVs I guess. Punishers come in a 191 also and have kind of an early rise tip.

The new Fujas have a 102mm waist, while the old ones (09/10 season and older) have a 95mm waist. 102mm in park sounds really thick to me...

Personally I'd go with the last season ones (I think someone is selling a 189 on here for like 300 bucks, new) because they're a bit smaller thinner.

Add 184 Atomic Patents to your list too. But those are still way shorter than a 189 Fujas.

Halos are pretty damn close to be 80 underfoot and rockered.

It is 94-111-81-100-85 at 170 and I think it gets up to 83 at 183.

Yeah but the halos are supposed to be even softer than the alpha 1s. Definitely not made for the big guys

I know that he just said that he does not know of any rockered park ski that was 80 underfoot.

not sure if you'd be up for this but maybe consider the obsetheds. For someone of your size they could work as a rockered park ski depending on what kind of stuff you like to do in the park.. I know collin collins and I-forget-his-name-at-the-moment from montage use it as their park ski. I'm not sure if this year's is wider/stiffer than last year's though, I think it might be..

A lot of kids are running the one life in the park... a little wider but the three stage rocker is SUPER fun to jib on!
