Rockered park skis??

dude.. just because a pro rides them, even if it is pep, doesnt mean thats where skiing is going. there are endless possibilities and just because a big name rides them, that means its the future? fucking stupid

its gonna be fun to see ya try to turn proper on those sucker. I dunno about you but when i ski hard i use my whole edge. Rocker takes away some of the most used edge off the snow.

you have to try to know, i just rockered some bc's, they wont be used in the park but i wont be railling turns on groomers with them either, all mountain and pow...we'll see if they are good or they suck in this next year

ha who cares about making "proper turns" on groomers? as long as they get you to the park or you use them for powder thats all that matters

it makes it sound like you need rockered skis to do butters..

i can quite easily butter and i have some of the stiffest park skis going, the head spawns.. it just takes practice

Agreed , might be fun on the 10-15 footers but i want stability on anything bigger, rocker does nothing when your jumping.

now i re-read that is sounds realy arrogant.. but still you don't need rockered skis to do butters, it is better to have a good pair of skis and be able to have fun doing everything on the mountain than being like 'oh shit i can jump that my skis are rockered i'll just die'..

true that^!

rockered skis are soo fresh.

get em man. the 181 shouldn't be so inimidating because your center mounting them and they are rockered so they ski a few cm's shorter anyway. and about the rocker being unstable on big landings? just look at the picture. its not that extreme of a rocker.

i dont think anyone realizes how little rocker were talking about. when i think rocker i think pontoons, but thats an extreme think about the reno rocker, just enough rocker to help not hinder

i bought the reno rockers they have not a lot i think 1.5 cm in front and 1cm in the back they'll be fine for i want them for ill hit jumps it will be the same as a soft ski I'm not worried u just have to land flat instead of on your tails sure they wont carve like race skis but thats NOT!!!! what i got them for i got them for powder and messing around in the park its skiing its supposed to be fun. i mean yes they ski shorter but im sure they will still turn.

you will, when you find out that your park isn't in a straight line, and you have to TURN to get to your features. Sorry im not going to sacrifice edge control, and pop just so i can press and butter everything.

honestly if u cant turn to get to a different feature on shorter skis (thats all it really is) then why even bother arguing about rockerd skis

my god its not that hard to turn. you guys make it seem impossible. you lose a little bit of edge, oh and the reno rockers are supposed to be good at holding an edge. so stop exaggerating the effects of rockered skis, it's not that huge a difference. A slight loss of control is not a bad trade off for some insanely fun skis.

That kid Mukluk tried them, says they are really fun and hold an edge really well. I think people are just scared to try a pair.

The Reno Rockers are one thing, because they have minimal rocker (compared to the Hellbent) and they are on 90mm in the waist. They will be a good park ski, especially if they can hold an edge like they claim. That being said, they still won't pop like a regular park ski. It's physically impossible, they don't have camber. Also, you will wash out more on back seat landings, there is no avoiding that (I'm probably one of the few guys here who has ridden rockered skis for an entire season). It will be a wicked ski to butter, but only when buttering will you be able to pop at all.

Hellbents are not a park ski. They have ridiculously huge rocker and are fucking fat and thus quite heavy. Keep in mind that when Pep and Andy are in the park (not pow and backcountry, thats a completely different story) they are using rockered Made'ns. 108 waist vs. 122. That ski is going to be a lot lighter. Also, did you see them in the X-games? They couldn't carry speed worth shit and were washing out like crazy on anything they landed backseat. Pure and simple if you buy Hellbents, you have to have another pair of skis. I'm sure they're wicked in pow and trees and booters and all of that, but you're going to be extremely disappointed with their performance in the park. Too fat, too heavy and too much rocker.

If you want a little rocker, buy the Reno Rocker or the Seth. Or just buy a soft park-specific ski.

rockered skis ski shorter, as do symmetrical skis, so if you're a good skier, it should be fine

i'm thinking about getting a pair cause they look like they'd be fun in the park, and a little pow

rockered park skis may or may not be the future, that's the thing about the future, it hasn't happened yet, personally, I love innovation in the ski industry, if no one ever went along with these 'fads' we'd still be skiing on single-tipped straight skis

They shred pow. Powder skis shouldn't be made with camber anymore.

As for park, I've never done it, so I'm not saying anything.

you have to realize that they're pros and they could do amazing shit with 2x4s for skis. rockered skis are terrible for jumping on hardpack, get that through your thick skull. you don't see pollard in the park on rockered skis, and he's the most innovative guy in the industry, and has been doing some of the most badass nosepresses for years.
