Rock Climbing / Ice Climbing

I've climbed extensively, both rock and ice. I do it all as far as climbing...trad, sport, big wall, aid, ice, mountaineering. The only thing I don't touch is bouldering.

I used to climb a bit when I was younger but it was all friends or friends dads gear. I might join a rock gym next year here. It's pretty fun. Mayne eventually Ill link up with some peoples to go out with.

Finally bought a rope and 11 quick draws for sport climbing after utilizing the gear from my colleges outdoors club. Gonna get into some trad this year!

Yes, I've climbed many 5.9s - cordless.

Suck it, sidesnack.

Cordless? Drills are cordless. Rock climbs are solo. Sweet job bragging about 5b though.

I was merely putting the sidesnack in his place. And to put you in your place, the term would be "free solo," as one can use many methods to solo with a rope such as a Silent Partner, GriGri (modified or non), a Soloist...and dozens of more techniques and devices. Get learnt.

What's wrong with bouldering. Looks fun to me. Don't need all the equipment

Nothing is wrong with bouldering. I simply do not enjoy it, so I do not participate in it. It's also where the vast majority of my climbing friends have gotten injured (pulley injuries, etc). If you enjoy "climbing" for 10-30 seconds at a time, then taking extremely long breaks, smoking large quantities of pot, listening to crappy music, and wearing a beanie when it is 90 degrees outside, then bouldering is for you.

mate you can't even pull on the start of your crags v4 classic. Bouldering is important for breaking through grades whether it be roped or not. people who don't like bouldering can't deal with failure or just suck

Gee, thanks. Never done it before in several countries. You're a gigantic douche dude. Maybe you should make not being one your next project. Hope to never see you at the crag.

I got really into bouldering a few years ago, still super into it. Most laid back thing of all time hiking up to a good bouldering spot in the canyon with crash pads and hammocks and snacks and weed. Gym bouldering is a lot of fun to, I go to The Front a few times a week. I like bouldering a lot because I don't have to buy a bunch of expensive gear, and I'm not relying on anyone else to keep me safe when I fall.

I boulder indoors a lot because it's a super convenient way to exercise. I climb outside too when I can but getting into climbing/mountaineering in general is kind of tough, not to mention it's super expensive.

I would love to get into ice climbing

It seems like a fun activity for the winter weather, but requires serious balls and $$ to learn and get into

can anyone correct/enlighten me?
