Rob Katz is Stepping Aside as Vail CEO

Vail Resorts on Tuesday announced that Rob Katz, who has led the company as its chief executive officer since 2006, will move into a new role as executive chairperson on Nov. 1. Kirsten Lynch, Vail Resorts’ current chief marketing officer, will be appointed chief executive officer and elected to the company’s board of directors.

Obligatory Fuck Vail

Now that that's aside, what are your thoughts on the biggest mega-organization in skiing changing executives?

Regardless of who's in charge they're still going to do all they can to maximize profits like any other corporation beholden to shareholders. I doubt anything will change.

I think Katz is feeling some pressure. Both from the declining Vail brand image and from a rough financial year from covid. Promoting a marketing officer to CEO is interesting. I think Vail wants to improve their brand image and they must think a marketing-focused CEO can do the trick. The optimist in me hopes they will adjust their operations to become more popular. The realist in me thinks nothing will change.

Rob is a Wall Street finance guy. Vail has always been very bullish with him. They’ve hit their peak. Growth now will be difficult. They’re in practically every market in USA (and aus) and the red hot acceleration of covid on the ski market was only temporary.

He knows Vail can not grow anymore. He sees the writing on the wall and he’s stepping down and presenting a sacrificial lamb as Vail offloads brands. Prepare for some of these resorts to change ownership in next few years

Rob Katz has the most smug, punchable face in the ski industry. He has decimated the resort experience worldwide in pursuit of profits. How many once great ski towns have turned into bootleg Disneyland hell holes on his watch? You may argue that Vail Resorts is a publicly-traded company and therefore the greed is justified. While it is true that every business's goal is to make money, Katz does this by screwing locals, favoring the wealthy, and blatantly covering this up by claiming to be on some social justice mission. Read this for background:
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...is-digital-and-diverse-says-vail-ceo-rob-katz

Here's a gem from that article:

"Katz says the key to industry growth lies in expanding appeal to a wider net of consumers while also reducing crowds."

You read that right. Bringing in more people will reduce crowds. Genius. Why didn't we think of that?

He goes on to state that the future of skiing is getting people of color involved, employing more women, and addressing climate change. Though these are great goals that should be adopted, with VR it's just more virtue signaling nonsense. The first female CEO in Vail Resorts history!! Isn't that terrific?! Or, considering the Chief Marketing Officer is now running the company, might this all just possibly be a marketing gimmick?

Kirsten Lynch - where have you heard that name before? Could it be Merrill Lynch, the wall street mega-firm? So here we have millionaires from billionaire families (look it up) rearranging the deck chairs on the SS Epic Pass under the pretext of being woke, and that is supposed to make everyone feel warm and fuzzy?

Rich or not, we all seek out the mountains for the experience. Skiing just makes you feel some sort of way. These are the asshats that killed it. RIP.

/end rant

TL;DR: Fuck Vail Resorts!

The real question is, why the fuck do you care?

Vail will keep doing their thing and you'll continue to support them.

I wrote something awhile back about Katz and his cronies at Fox News; I'd classify him as a weasel. I also wrote about Lynch and she seemed like the only person that was rad about skiing. I'm glad for her and wish her well but not katz

Wrote this shit piece:

I swear if Vail buys Jay Peak, I'll get a sex change. And I don't want to get a sex change. Also, they shut down the adventure center at Stowe for children in order to increase profits; suck up those pennies. They also said it wasn't shut down and lied for as long as they could to—you guessed it—suck up those remaining pennies.

They de-staff locals to save a few more pennies too. I don't know what it is but vail resorts, which is sold on the NY stock exchange, effectively sucks out the local culture of mountain resorts and creates a negative atmosphere. But I'll remain positive, despite the atmosphere of many vail owned resorts feeling as if there are hundreds of skeletons in their closets.

Now because I believe Vail Resorts is run by people—the higher echelon of well placed scum—who could care less about skiing and more about the love of money and control; maybe they are doing a little Hegelian dialectic in the ordeal I mention below.

In an article we read:

"That's Georges Dionne, a local snowboarder and someone who also **acted in Hollywood for sometime.**"

The reason for his Stowe ban? he used obscenities when he complained about a slow lift in 2017.

Nobody can independently verify his account because officials at Vail Resorts and Stowe would not answer questions about Dionne's situation, citing customer privacy. Whatever that means; certainly this Dionne would want to speak up about this ordeal.

Johnna Muscente, Vail Resorts' director of corporate communications, did issue a statement that said the company stands by its decision. Muscente is also overly political judging by her twitter page, though I'm not one to get into politics anymore because I think it's theater for the masses, I noticed that so many of the other vail resort upper level officials and executives also delve into politics which takes up most of their social media feed. It seems as if many of them don't even ski and come straight out of NYC and Washington D.C. areas.

Back to Mr. Dionne. Maybe Georges Dionne is acting? He was a shitty actor in Hollywood. Apparently, he was banned from ALL Vail resorts for life because he "almost" punches someone in the face, and is known as an "irritant." Now, I don't think any of that should get you banned for life, and maybe he really wasn't banned for life, idk, but seeing as Dionne was an actor in hollywood, maybe he was used to set a precedent, I don't know? You know, powerful people do this kind of crap: Create a problem, entice a controlled reaction, provide the predesigned solution, Idk, I'm just saying, idk. COULD BE.

Key words, "tolerance." So, the guy got mad, if he is who he says he is. The point is, any intolerant behavior that Vail Resorts deems intolerant will get you banned. And it can be as small as throwing a snowball.

Could it be that the point of this ordeal was to create the intolerance precedent, which is all too common in today's world of censorship. This man apparently was banned for this ordeal. If anything, a temporary ban would suffice.

Dionne, supposedly assaulted a low-paid worker. But he never really did, he "almost" did. And because he never suggested he could have been wrong he was banned for that reason alone, apparently. Also, another KEY WORD their public relation pundits use is "low-paid worker." Think for a moment, this ordeal occurred at the very time people were speaking up about how wages were so low at ski resorts, specially targeting Vail's resorts. Could they have hired Dionne to act to set a tolerance precedent while making themselves look good?

Vail was also handing out 4 week bans to passholders who get caught ducking ropes/skiing closed trails. There was a wild thread on FB's the New England Backcountry page. I'm all set with Stowe anyways.

stowe.jpg.db69ec9df1d8c9aef307dd348a84f90e.jpg

Also, when Vail acquired Kirkwood a few years back nothing with the resort itself really changed besides ticket prices almost doubling. Vail is just another massive corporation full of greed and I don't see how anything good can come out of them acquiring Whistler, or the 19 resorts in 2019, or the thousands by 2060, if we are all not dead yet.

Vail owners are:

Robert A. Katz - According to Katz BIO: "Katz is a Jewish, self made millionaire worth 70 million dollars." Vail Resorts CEO Rob Katz - explains his companies new Epic Mix Program and how it uses RF Technology to log and track a skiers. Of course, Vail resorts loves Data and spying on people, sort of like our government. Because the more data that they can obtain—down to outright stalking every skier—the more human they feel, and the more spinach they make!

Oh, Katz likes to talk on the 'always truthful' Rupert Murdoch's Fox News too; wouldn't it be funny if Katz had an executive under him worth 10 million who also worked at Fox News and then Vail?

https://www.foxcorporation.com/management/board-of-directors/roland-a-hernandez/

^^^ Here he is talking about tracking skiers.

Ground breaking is it not? All Vail's doing with this is charting your chairlift rides, so it's actually how many vertical feet you rode up the chairlift, not skied down the hill. It's a complete sham. What happens if you hike? The system won't calculate that. What happens if your buddy rides up a lift and skis down to the bottom and is chillin' in the bar? The system still says he's on the mountain b/c he rode a lift. Again, it's a complete sham and pointless, if not used for other reasons.

Here is Katz talking at Daniels college, to point out their sponsors in the beginning of the video, it is all commercial banks.

A commenter had to say:

"Katz also likes to say in all of his videos, "Global Reach", and "overtime we buy a resort, we look to build hotels, manage hotels, etc." as well as "synergistic", and "Vail culture", which is just another word for corporate profit making culture."

A humorous look at Vail CEO Rob Katz and Ski School director Bobby Murphy discussing ski school profits, instructor compensation and how Vail Resorts can continue to grow the bottom line by increasing the gap between what they charge customers ($850+/day for a private lesson) and pay the instructors who teach those lessons (under $70/day in some cases with an average of about $110/day), basically peasants. Funny but sad, but at least Katz and the executives under crony capitalism, not to be mistaken with classical Liberalist Capitalism can get a few extra million dollars.

He loves talking on TV and loves money speculation too:

"The $4,800,000.00 I got paid last year...."-CEO Rob Katz

This is all an obscene situation. Every worker-bee at a ski area barely survives their serf wages. Patrollers risk their lives, lifites sacrifice comfort and time at a miserable job while cafeteria workers put up with overprivileged customers with a smile.

Yet resorts have no reservations charging a week's groceries for a day pass.

For instance, this video, although it mentions Aspen Ski, Aspen ski also banned a ski instructor for passing out living wage flyers; is what exactly? And the trial date keeps rolling.... :)

https://www.facebook.com/Stop-the-ban-Protect-our-freedom-of-speech-328716400520776/

In the US it is all about profit, and too much profit, whilst the wealth inequality keeps on climbing, whilst more people become homeless as the age of death declines too. Oligarchs and corporatists are so cool! But they work hard and the peasants at ski resorts can't possibly work as hard as them.

The highest executives and owners are Robert Katz, a Jewish self-made millionaire worth a measly 70,000,000 dollars, who formerly worked at Apollo Global Management, which has connections to Jared Kushner.

The next is, Joshua Harris, the former Vail Resorts CEO, who now controls and owns the interests on Vail Resorts and is one of the largest shareholders. Harris is a self made Jewish Billionaire worth 4,500,000,000 dollars, not that much.

Vail Resorts also has Marc J. Rowan, a self-made Jewish billionaire worth 3,600,000,000, also not that much, formerly worked at Apollo Global Management and is a shareholder for Vail.

Leon Black, the owner of Apollo Global Management, a Jewish self-made billionaire worth 7,800,000,000, also, not that much, de-stressed the debt for Vail and was the former boss for Katz. He currently has a large amount of shares in Vail Resorts.

Black's father was CEO of the fruit company which is now named Chiquita during the scandal where they payed foreign terrorist groups to kill local people in order to farm and privatize the land.

Other uppers at Vail and those with stock in the corp include:

Michael Foss, a self-made Jewish multi millionaire.

As well as the Gart Brothers who have a large share in Vail. They are all self-made Jewish multi millionaires.

As well as David Shapiro, Executive Vice President, General Counsel & Secretary at Vail and self-made Jewish billionaire.

As well as Michael Barkin from Belarus: Mr. Barkin currently serves on the board of directors of CLEAR, the secure biometrics identity company,.

Patricia A. Campbell, who seems to be the only cool person in the upper echelon who talks about skiing like she loves it.

Kirsten A. Lynch, Catholic, another upper at Vail served as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer since July 2011. This will be the new Executive replacing Katz for cookie points.

She formerly worked at the wonderful PepsiCo, Inc., where she was Chief Marketing Officer of the Quaker Foods and Snacks Division from 2009 to 2011, leading the brand marketing, consumer insights and shopper marketing organization for the always 'nutritional' food.

From 2007 to 2009, she was Vice President of Marketing for Kraft Foods Group, Inc.’s Cheese and Dairy Business; I had my fair share of Kraft Mac skiing but it's basically feces. Ms. Lynch had worked for Kraft Foods since 1996, holding various marketing positions for the company’s product divisions, including Senior Marketing Director of Kraft Mac & Cheese and Family Dinners, as well as Senior Brand Manager and Brand Manager for product lines such as salad dressings, barbecue, DiGiorno Pasta & Sauce and Miracle Whip. Ms. Lynch started her career with Ford Motor Company in marketing and sales. Ms. Lynch is also a member of the board of directors of Stitch Fix, Inc., a publicly traded ecommerce company focused on personalized data-driven fashion.

Some other Vail shareholders include:

T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc. owned by Bill Stromberg : Former NFL football player, and CATHOLIC worth millions.
https://www.troweprice.com/corporate/en/home.html

Ronald Baron/Baron Capital Management, Inc. owned by Ronald S. Baron a self-made Jewish Billionaire worth 2.3 billion. He has a beautiful 28,000 square foot house, and it's design is actually pretty cool.

The Vanguard Group, Inc.

and;

BlackRock Inc. known as the shadow bank.

That's basically a copy and paste of what I could find on wikipedia and their written bios.

I'm sure as of 2021 management and their holdings have changed at Vail.

No, you don't get it. Rob was trying to say that he'll let the very rich ski, the indentured peasants will work on his snow plantations for the service of the very rich and the destroyed middle class and lower classes will have VR simulated skiing in their lodges for a quarter of the price of their already bloated ticket and parking prices.

But it is great that he appointed another multi-millionaire women for the billionaire mask of inclusion culture who worked as public relations marketer for Kraft Mac n' Cheese. I mean, you could, theoretically speaking, ski on the creamy kraft cheese.

The Vanguard Group, Inc.

and;

BlackRock Inc. known as the shadow bank.

That's basically a copy and paste of what I could find on wikipedia and their written bios.

I'm sure as of 2021 management and their holdings have changed at Vail.

That's a lot of stuff I didn't bother to read.

Quoting purely to inconvenience everyone reading this thread.

This echoes what Leon Black did at Apollo a few months back, and the timing is suspect because this went out late on the same day Guzel Ganieva's "amended complaint" made the news.

I'm just really hoping the new CEO takes Vail in a better direction that the bullshit they've been doing for the last however many years. And of course fuck vail

The Vanguard Group, Inc.

and;

BlackRock Inc. known as the shadow bank.

That's basically a copy and paste of what I could find on wikipedia and their written bios.

I'm sure as of 2021 management and their holdings have changed at Vail.

The Vanguard Group, Inc.

and;

BlackRock Inc. known as the shadow bank.

That's basically a copy and paste of what I could find on wikipedia and their written bios.

I'm sure as of 2021 management and their holdings have changed at Vail.I swear if Vail buys Jay Peak, I'll get a sex change.

The Vanguard Group, Inc.

and;

BlackRock Inc. known as the shadow bank.

That's basically a copy and paste of what I could find on wikipedia and their written bios.

I'm sure as of 2021 management and their holdings have changed at Vail.

The Vanguard Group, Inc.

and;

BlackRock Inc. known as the shadow bank.

That's basically a copy and paste of what I could find on wikipedia and their written bios.

I'm sure as of 2021 management and their holdings have changed at Vail.

The Vanguard Group, Inc.

and;

BlackRock Inc. known as the shadow bank.

That's basically a copy and paste of what I could find on wikipedia and their written bios.

I'm sure as of 2021 management and their holdings have changed at Vail.

huh imagine that. I'm convinced.
