Hi, myself and 4 friends are planning to do a roadtrip to Banff and hopefully ski louise one day n sunshine the other, were currently located up in Jasper.

Were planning to rent a car and drive down on the friday n come back late sunday, and were wondering whats the best cheap places to stay, maybe lift pass included.

Also if anybody has room for 5 guys to crash or your coming/going our way wed be willing to put up some money, were super chill and just wanna ski or if anyone would be willing to show us some sick terrain that would be appreciated too, dont know exactly what dates yet but any information would be greatly appreciated.

Peace

I would go to shine both days. The forecast out here is that its going to get really really warm, then louise will freeze over and suck. Avalanche conditions are absolutely incredibly terrible, so I would probably make it a park riding trip if I were you. Shine has a better park than louise.

yeah were majorly suffering with the weather up here at the minute, theres fuck all snow it keeps melting in the day and freezing over night not good, we wont be going for a few weeks anyways so we can go once the weather gets better, park sounds good but looking for all sorts of terrain, is it cheaper to ski in one place for 2 days?

anyone got any suggestions on places to stay, super cheap hostel etc as long as its acceptable and not a cold shithole :)

Well, if you want to be able to ride everything then you'll probably want to do shine one day and louise the other, but shine does have some sick terrain, you just have to look around and you'll see it. Its generally cheaper to ski 2 days at one place, you should contact the resorts and see what they have for 2 day lift tickets. If you guys decide on that I would go to Shine personally, they've got the big park and sweet terrain.

As for places to stay, not too sure.

You could take a chance however, and give this a shot:

if you have a marmot pass you might get a deal at sunshine. the sunshine card works at both places so I'd look into it.

If you guys are willing and able to fit five into a room, do it.

It's actually be cheaper than a hostel that charges per bunk/bed.

You should be able to find a place for between $99 to 129 a night IN BANFF quite easily. Sniff around a bit, grasshopper. Plenty of good & cheap places in town, especially now....economy's bad and the snow sux.

As for places to go, Louise is good when the conditions are good, but Sunshines WAY and I mean WAY better right now. That being said, if you don't come down here to often, Louise is something to see and do and the Hotel and the Lake are a nice touristy stop to do. The Ice Sculpture festival's next weekend I think. Louise has got a way better and more consistent fall line (longer top to bottom vert total) if you take away Shine's 6km ski out.

Also, if you got a Sunshine / Marmot card ....or a Marmot pass, you'll get a decent discount.

No real discounts can be found in JAN/FEB.

Be safe (stay in bounds....especially at Louise) Sunshine's pretty tame, and have a killer time, niga.
