RMCAD

Looks like I'll be going to the Rocky Mountain College of Art & Design for the 09 Fall semester.

Any chance some NS heads go there? I'll be moving pretty much cold turkey from Philly and not knowing anyone would suck.

That school and AI are way to overpriced. If i were you i'd look into a state school in co. CSU, CU, UNC, so on, save alot of money, get an art degree still, and have more money/time to shred. But AI is better the RMCAD if you were wondering. And a few shredders go there.

CU doesn't have a Graphic Design program. Also RMCAD gives out scholarships for transfer students with high GPA's, so there's a good chance I will be getting one of those, besides price isn't that big of a deal to me. I'm still looking at some other schools though.

As far as AI goes, there's one here in Philly, and I've only heard negative things about it, especially with job placement.

State schools are always an option to me.

But the thing that I like the most about RMCAD is the lax transfer requirements, it's based more on portfolio and individual assessment rather than credits. I'm more than likely going to wind up with having credits lost transferring from a community college over here to a CO state school. Also keep in mind the price might not be that different, I'll be out of state so my tuition is gonna be jacked up as it is for a state school.

Another thing that RMCAD offers is off-campus housing. They basically will be providing me an apartment at a discounted rate, and even a roommate if I want. Since I'm going to be moving about 2000 miles away from home, it'll make things a lot easier in between semesters, this move is going to be permanent for the most part, so coming home is not going to be a feasible option most of the time with dorm rooms. Eventually I'll want to venture off on my own and grab my own place, but having that apartment available is awesome to help me get started.

We'll see how things pan out in the future...I'll probably apply to CSU, RMCAD, and UNC. When I get decisions, scholarship and financial aid options, and find out which credits transfer I'll have a better idea of what's gonna happen. I was just wondering what rep RMCAD had with locals, I don't know shit about the school and it seems to be small enough as it is. Having shredders that go to the school is also a huge thing for me, if I move out there and nobody skis at the school I'll probably lose my sanity.
