I searched, but to no avail.

What is the best program out there to rip music from an iPod and then have the music on my computer?

Thanks.

It isn't a program but if your ipod is in manually manage mode rather than sync mide you can easily do it. If you are on a pc:The first step is showing hidden filesGo to Control Panel, then Folder options and Under the "view" tab click "Show Hidden Files nad Folders"
Then go to "My Computer" and open whatever your ipod is called, then open "ipod_control" and then open "music"
In side all of that there will be a bunch of folders with you music in it. The songs have a bunch of wierd names and it is all mixed up. Just click and drag it into itunes and it will amke the names and stuff for you.
it takes a little while but hopefully that works. I'm on windows xp so it may be different on vista

The only problem with that is that i am anal retentive about my music files, so they are all in order by artist with the correct names and are all full albums.

So i think i need the program so i can do my organizing before i put them in itunes.

Me too. I'm totally type A about my music. It is all there it is just how the ipod organizes it. Just a suggestion though

Thanks. I will use that as a last resort, but i have had to do it before and it was HELL putting everything in order.

yes but the new version has a 1,000 song limit if you use the free version. the full version is $18 i believe

Does anyone know how to do it for an Ipod Touch second gen. These don't work because it doesn't have any hard disk stoarge or something.

Thanksxx

Like stated before, make sure you are showing hidden files and folders, go into the iPod, copy the music somewhere temporarily. Then make sure your itunes is set to automatically organize your music. Import all the tunes, and iTunes will automagically rename and sort all the files. I've done this before on several occasions.

i have a pc and i used something called music rescue

It worked great for free software and even uploaded the music and videos to itunes. The only problem was that every 50 songs it would stop and ask me to buy the full version. I just exed it out and it kept going
