I was suppose to go to new-york with my Gf this week-end, but I'm not because of a show.. I'm kinda pissed now i'm missing out on occupywallstreet!

Privilege breads arrogant entitlement. My generation is one of the most pampered, babied and coddled. They truly believe they should be provided food, clothes, shelter and jobs. Just for existing

I would venture to guess his inarticulate garble was an attempt at agreeing with you.

I gotta say, I'm surprised how many haters are on NS. On the other hand, I imagine the demographic of skiers is mostly white, rich, and ignorant to the circumstances of the less fortunate. Hate on, you young and entitled!

Funny guy. I actually have a great job in NYC due to the fact I have worked hard instead of walking around making excuses.

Yes please.

I'd love to see the demographic of the protestors. I'm sure they come from all walks of life. But I bet the majority are educated white students and organized professional labor activists

^^this... i'm european and what is this?

first impression = bunch of jobless hippies protesting....

+do they really think their protest is going to change anything?

we're all aware that "the man" is suppressing us....

Generally speaking, the occupation is in protest of corporate greed. What's that you say? Start here:http://www.thisamericanlife.org/radio-archives/episode/355/the-giant-pool-of-money

Do you all think there is nothing to protest about? What is the difference between whining and protesting? Is traditional politics the only route towards change? What about trolling the internet (ha)?

Where can we strike a balance between equality and freedom?

This movement, to me, is less about specific demands, and more about dialogue. Complex financial instruments are difficult to understand. Oppression, in all its forms can be difficult to understand. Standing up for what you believe in is hard. Typing a few dismissive comments on a thread on NS is easy.

As stated in the video: 1% of the US population is in control of 60% of the wealth. That alone makes me want to know more.

The top 10% of America also pays 95% or more of the taxes. While 50% of Americans pay no federal income tax at all.....

Also when you say "60% of the wealth". What does that mean? You make it sound like wealth is a finite resource that is being held back or hoarded. New wealth is created every day and the goal should be creating more not being lazy and redistributing what's already there and taking it from those who worked their ass off to create it

I really, truly feel sorry for people who do not know what is going on in the world and choose to be ignorant. Hearing one side of the story is IGNORANCE. That means do some research, inform yourself before you call these people hippies or wall street greedy. I don't care whose "side" you're on. Fucking inform yourselves. We're at such a crossroad of online and offline and never before has SO MUCH information been available to you. Obviously you're all well enough off to be connected to the internet SO USE IT.

what do you suggest forcefully sharing the 1%s success seriously this isn't about how you slice the pie it's about creating a bigger pie...

Hmmmm you think they're the jobless masses?..........Or just hippies looking for something to do.

P.S don't hate, some of my best friends are hippies

so you suggest we take the wealth of the rich and divide everything equally over the people ?

splendid idea comrade!

Haha touche. Just tired of all these lazy occupy Wall Street hippie fucks who complain about how poor and underprivileged they are when all they have to do is work a little bit and stop expecting everything to be presented to them on a silver platter.

let's be clear, im sure there are lots of idiots out there but like i said in another thread, if you think youre totally okay with everything going on at the level of the super elite you are either ignorant or just really apathetic. you can think anything you want, but i really dont see why people like you would be threatened by it. i dont understand why people feel a pressure or a need to hate on them, really. sure it's easy with some of them, but it's very...high school that so many people take so much pride in saying vague condemnations like "oh they need to get a job! i did!" which really has almost nothing to do with the real issues at hand

and THAT is the last time i will say a single thing about occupy wall st on NS

well being European you must see some need to protest for Americans. (I'm not american either). I agree their list of demand are not realistic. But they need some social programs and change.

the amount of ignorance and overall stupidity in this thread, and on this site in general is disgusting. THIS ISNT JUST THE NEWS. this is our world. our life. Everything isnt Red and Blue; everyone always just plays sides and complains and argues about what is right and what isnt. at least these people are out there standing for what they believe in, attempting to make a change.

I am part of that 99% and in all reality, will be part of that 99% my whole life.
