Not usually a ricky rozay fan, but his new album has seriously impressed me. Some really great tracks on here. The whole thing is worth a listen but if you're too lazy a few of my favorites are Sanctified, Rich is Gangsta, The Devil is a Lie, Nobody, Thug Cry, honestly just listen to the whole thing.

lawls at rick ross "saving hip hop"

he was a prison guard before he became a rapper and basically created a persona around inmates stories.. Just cancelled a bunch of shows thanks to real gangsters threatening to kill that fat fuck for name dropping.

hes bad, always has been bad and you should feel bad.

hell yea. why listen to an obese black man grunt a shit ton on every song, when you can just stick with the classics!

It's a mediocre album at best. Rick Ross' formula is so stale by now. Dude needs to take some risks with his music. With that said, I do like Sanctified and In Vein

ricky rozay is the epitome of what is wrong with the music industry. He created a fake persona that never existed and the complexity of his lyrics is shit. I don't care that you like his music. I like music just for its sound too but saying he saved hip hop makes me want to vomit.

He raps about the same fake shit that every rapper does... over and over again. the only reason his music can sound decent is his voice can be appealing...

"______ saved ______" is an expression. I dont think there is any one artist who is capable of "saving hip-hop", and if there was, it most certainly would not be rick ross either. Like I said earlier I am no big fan of rick ross, I hate basically every other song he has made that isnt on this album, I hate the false persona he puts on and how he tries to take on the identity of the real rick ross (look him up).

However, all that set aside, this album is still good music (IMO)

Yeah, the guy is fake to the fucking core. He's a shitty rapper with nothing going for him except for the mainstream culture that, for some reason, feeds in to his bullshit. This album is another shining example of shit.

GTFO with this correctional officer fake ass rick ross.

get educated. youre listening to a wanna-be hipy-hop rapper with a stolen name.

Whats the guy supposed to do to everyone hating, stop rapping about being a gangster and be a hipster rapper like Mackelmore who raps about being gay?

Im not saying hes not fake or Im just trying to imply that 9/10 gangster rappers are going to be just as fake as he is. They'd all be in jail if they did 1/10th of the shit they say they did. Just look at real rappers like Lil Boosie or BG and what they got locked up for. Boosie got 20 years for his fucking lyrics. There are no real rappers out there these days OGs like Turk who shoot cops are rarities most of these bustas are pussies like Drake albeit not as rich.

Gangster Rap is played out. Its like porn there are no new boundaries to explore everything has been said or done by now you just cannot be original even if you want to. But its popular and not going anywhere. I like money and bitches more than thrift shops though I'd rather listen to gangster rap than some scrub talk about being poor, being self employed I feel it motivates me to keep grinding and get rich.

I remember there was a grammy thread on this site where someone clearly white rich skiier kid was like 'Mackelmore sold out and made songs to appeal to mainstream.... Kendrick was original and showed everyone what it was like growing up in Compton and being around drugs and gangs'. It was the dumbest fucking thing I'd ever heard. I love Kendrick and hate Mackelmore but unfortunately the boring sell out mainstream hipster rapper IS more original rapping about what its like to grow up in Compton is because all every gangster rapper raps about is coming from the hood.

Rick Ross fucking sucks. No one is saving hip hop, hip hop is fucking dead for all everyone cares.

I don't understand what place street credibility has in hip hop these days. If I wanted to listen to street credible artists only, I would only listen to Chief Keef, Uncle Murda, Maino. Sure they're all extremely mediocre rappers, but atleast they actually bust guns and kill people right?

You'd be hard-pressed to find artists actually within the industry who:

A. Make Good Music

B. Actually lived what they rap about

So for someone like Ross, I'm gonna judge him on his lyrical ability and quality of music, rather than how much dope he sold and hard he is, because that has nothing to do with the quality of the music released. As far as Mastermind goes, I'm gonna go ahead and say it's a pretty good album and probably his best work.
