I do in fact live like a millionaire. My family has 6 cars, I've been travelling for five months straight (on my own money) and we have a 4500 square foot house with a pool in the back yard, but it's not necessary; besides the travelling. That's all I'm really saying. We just over consume because we want, not because we need. Why, because we can. That's true, but we could survive with a lot less shit. I wouldn't suggest that if you had a beautiful pool, cars and a brilliant house it would make you less happy. However, the extra weight that you carry by having those things does. In our case: cleaning the pool is a bitch, the porsche needs its engine rebuilt, our house is too big to easily clean so we might have to hire somebody to clean it occasionally and so on and so forth. It's just clutter in our life. Instead we could easily live in a 1500 square foot house, go to the public pool on a bike and catch the bus home, but we live in excess.
I would much rather live down here and be able to walk out my front door and buy groceries from a little sari sari store daily that are grown locally, cook fresh food and go diving all day and night with my bangka (boat made of wood and bamboo outriggers) with a beautiful women.
I just never stopped to think when I was younger, and now it's astounding.
