Being an avid RHCP fan, Im stoked for the news that their newest album will be coming out in the last week of August. Those who have been following this know that Frusciante will not be participating, which is a bummer. Hopefully it won't affect their sound too much, and hopefully the replacement Josh Klinghoffer will do a good job. Personally I would have loved to see Dave Navarro return, but it doesn't look that way.

Flea tweeted about the new album a couple of days ago. "the new rhcp album is beautiful thing, a new thing, a warm thing, full of love and violence and deep funky grooves for humans"
and heres an unrealesed song that I still wish they had put on an actual album, woulda been a hit IMO/static/images/flash_video_placeholder.png

interesting fact:i heard on the radio that like >80% of chili peppers fans were not born when their first album came out in like 84

Kind of blows. I didn't LOVE the last album, i thought it was alright
 
yea i was pretty depressed when i heard that frusicante quit the band. nevertheless unless they put out somehting like one hot minute (dave navarro fuckin sucks) then it should be pretty good. very stoked!!
 
I hope it sounds like OHM so that you'll never listen to it you cottonheaded ninnymuggin!

Dave Navarro is some shit. best song on one hot minute is pea (lol). personally I hope it has the sound of BSSM (their best album) back to the days of funk and when the songs had soul to them. dont get me wrong califoniacation-stadium arcadium have been great too so i wouldnt be disappointed if it builds on that sound

BSSM is their best album, but OHM is not all that bad. especially if you claim to love their funk.

meh. i was disappointed by stadium arcadium. all the music sounded way to much alike, it was really unnecessary to make it 2 discs. but whatever, i'll still be interested to see if they've still got it.
 
as a mediocre guitar player that is the thing i pay the most attention to.. and i absolutely hate navarro's style of play so i didnt like OHM. hopefully klinghoffer will have a similar sound to frusciante.
 
I used to have every single chili song they ever recorded, it totaled at something like 220, then that computer met its maker...
But from everything i've heard Josh Klinghoffer is supposed to be almost identical to Frusciante in style and talent. So we shouldn't notice a difference, maybe even somehting new to the mix that just makes it better.
The Chili peppers guitarist has always be cursed, they've gone threw 4 of them I believe and have always made great music. This is just the next step.
God I hope I can finally see them live, Slane castle continues to be my favorite "album" per se.
 
I really like what the OP posted, and im excited for the new album. I like that kind of mellower but not slow RHCP song, like This is the place or parallel universe, so hopefully this album will have a bit of that
 
YES. rhcp are the shit.
has anyone read the book scar tissue - if not you should pick it up. its simply amazing.
 
I picked up 2 weeks ago. I'm halfway through it so far, so damn good. If you like any RHCP music or like drugs (lol), read that book.
 
One Hot Minute is a great album its just so overlooked. In fact its my second favorite (behind BSSM). It sucks because I've seen the chili peppers twice live (03, 06) and never have they played a song off of that album.

real stoked to see what it sounds like, heard flea was working on some other side projects as well. as a bass player im curious to see how his style has developed from the past albums
 
Certainly doesn't come close to any of their best albums, but its a lot better then I expected after the single.

But yeah, I'm kinda stoked. I think Raindance Maggie is fucking terrible and annoying but that's just my opinion, man.
 
ever since i heard them for the first time i've been a fan of rhcp, imho its music almost anyone can listen to in almost any situation ...

so stoked for this !
