RFID card cloning/encoding

Has anyone here ever messed around with trying to replicate RFID cards? I'm talking specifically with regards to the modern ski pass RFID readers.

Are there different standards, or will the gates at the resort be able to read any RFID card in the right frequency range?

I'm thinking of trying to replicate an invalid ski pass, but information online seems pretty sparse. Honestly idk if I even need to clone/encode a pass or if a blank RFID card will work just as well since I want the gate to detect the card and not open

Hopefully not, but maybe. And it won't be somewhere owned by Vail or Alterra so it should be pretty localized

I'm trying to make something that returns a signature like a pass, but isn't valid. Preventing the gates from opening

most rfid gates are made by skidata. their encoding is proprietary so i doubt any amount of research would get you anywhere. but i’d guess that any card with a bit of random data would give an invalid error. blank card prob wouldn’t do anything at all.

you can buy bare skidata reader boards on ebay. idk if they would be of any use for testing tho.

Why are you wanting to do this? For what purpose?

The gates at the mountains I'll be at are made by Axess. I found the RFID specs they use, but yeah the actual information transmitted is probably proprietary.

I think that "blank" cards come with some placeholder data on them so that the RFID encoder can recognize that there's a card there. I'll probably just buy some of the ultra cheap stick-on RFID tags and give them a try
 
This is kind of a tangent but I wonder how easy it is to clone someone's pass using something like a flipper zero and a blank signal card. I wouldn't think its be that hard since a pass being scanned should emit a signal that can be copied
 
From a very cursory reddit browsing, it looks like people haven't had much luck getting a response from the pass with the flipper. I don't know enough about it to guess why though. The passes use the same 13.56 Mhz frequency as NFC
