Revelstoke to cheap?

Found this gaper comment on the snow forcast website.
Paul[/b] from United States writes:
They are too cheap to groom the mountain at Revelstoke Mountain Resort. If you are a powder hound and can ski that way all day - this is the place for you. If not, stay away. The mountain operations are a disaster. Stayed three days and left. Planned on a month stay.

A four seasons resort - what a joke.

no, he's got a point allright.

i for one couldnt tell you how many times ive been airing out into neck deep powder from the cliffs above north bowl and thought "you know what would make this better, a real good grooming op"

what a stiff.

You're right, same goes with Kicking Horse. They are both aiming to be resorts, as opposed to ski hills. A "Dream Destination" I can say. With a target audience being middle to upper-class families, these people are going to expect something like Whistler, especially if that's what the hype of Revy is.

So if your upper-class (I'm assuming this "Paul" here is, since he planned to stay for a month), come to a ski hill for a vacation, they are going to want optimum results.

In my experience, if Kicking Horse gimps out on grooming, the hill is pretty bad, even during a powder day. We all know you can't truly predict how much snow will fall, so if grooming is done the night before a huge storm, there is still a good chance you'll see those vacation people up there. Even if they ski the lower mountain where there is less snow.

A ski hill has to try and appeal to everyones needs, the pow fiends and ski bums have the terrain and mother nature to rely on. The vacation folk have mountain maintenance to rely on.

exactly the "vacation" folk, you ask most of the people living in revy they live there for the powder not some groomed trails. i know money makes shit go round but listen to the riders in the area that go there all the time not some vacay skiers that aren't use to pow..( i know we all need tourism $$ blablahblah but common)

No, that's stupid. If you're a multimillion dollar business, do you listen to the people who bring in 95% of your money, or the people who will be skiing there no matter what? Anyways, if Revelstoke was to groom, it would be on mellow runs that the 'hardcore locals' wouldn't ski anyways.

are you kidding me?? when i was there in december there plenty of groomers! so they dont groom a lot of the runs that could be groomed...whatever. get in the trees and find some deep stuff.

nah i get you that hills def need the vacay people, my point is everybody makes it out to be who gives a shit about the locals/staff, it's all about the bling in the hill owners pockets.

example sunshine!
