Revelstoke 17-18

Hey Ladies!

I'm really wanting to spend around two to three months in Revelstoke this year (Nov-Jan), but so far haven't organised a partner in crime to do this with! I would love to know of anyone also looking for a roomie and/ or any tips for such an adventure?

Quick background: I'm a 24 year old Aussie who's been skiing all my life, love all types of skiing but became really into park about 2 seasons ago.

Please comment if you are also looking for a partner in crime (can be flexible on place e.g. if you wanted to go somewhere else instead of Revelstoke).

If you're interested in whistler I'd be in, trying to head back for october/november ;)

If you want to focus more on park riding I wouldn't recommend revy as much as other spots. They recently put in a park, I haven't heard too much about it but Revy's not really known as a park scene. The town is pretty tiny and you're super out of the way of the cities - calgary is about 5-6 hrs, Vernon's about 3 I think (?) and kamloops is about 3 (that's in good weather in the summer). That being said Revy is my 2nd favourite resort I've skied. Amazing powder, an awesome community, and tons of terrain, I don't know anyone that's ever hated it there.

I’m either gonna be in banff or whistler at this stage for the whole season! So if anyone wants to catch uppp/ shred/ needs a couch xxx

I have the ability to work remotely and have been eyeing Revelstoke -- haven't been skiing my whole life -- traded my surfboard for skis 3 years ago.

Yoo we should get in contact! I went from surfing to snowboarding to skiing. I'm moving to SLC this December and I was planning on going to the ~true north~ in February.

Message me when you get into town. Do you need help finding a job?

Maybe, it really depends on the job. I was thinking about working at Alta part-time for a pass, then bouncing to interior BC for most of February. So I don't necessarily want to be too committed to a job.... Wow that sounds terrible hahhaa.

Tons of seasonal work girl. Look at backcountry.com as well.

February in Revelstoke? Sounds like a plan to me!

Yeah absolutely love it there! Have some old connections and I'd really love to do some touring. Plus the FWT is in Kicking Horse at the beginning of February.

Does backcountry.com offer lots of distance work? I'll definitely look into it.

I have no idea if they have remote work. I freelance so it comes with the territory.

I hear they have stellar backcountry in that region.

When do you get into SLC?

Is there temporary insurance you can buy in Canada while you are living there for a month? Any recommendations? Also whats the best way of finding temporary housing for a month?

There is temporary insurance and it's pretty straightforward to get, but I can't quite recall the name of the company I used...

The housing crisis is pretty bad in the BC ski towns during the winter. For a month rental in January, the best option is to anticipate that there will be no options. Revy and Golden both have housing groups on fb, but it's unlikely a room would pop up.
