Revamping of threads

First off i'd just like to say that I have been on NS for a relatively short time so i'm not sure if this has been thought of before, or if it is something that people would even be interested in. Having said that..

There are a few threads here on NS that have become ridiculously long. An example would be the post your latest purchase thread. Now it is much easier to see if a thread has had a lot of activity on it when it goes from say 1 page to 3, compared to a thread that goes from 122-124. When the numbers get excessive I tend to not really notice if a thread has gotten much activity. Additionally, the relevant information in a thread is (for the most part) what has been most recently posted, and the many pages that are in the middle are basically just wasted space. I mean who checks page 13 of a 200 page thread? So for certain threads it would seem logical to get rid of the original thread and restart it. Ex] Sage Trading Thread v.2

what do you guys think?

Why get rid of the middle stuff?

Posts are set in there unless a mod removes them. Keep the middle stuff, some might have useful information.

I see no real harm in keeping the middle stuff in the bigger threads. It makes a thread what it is.

Plus sometimes there are good reads.

i'm not saying that they should be done exactly, it was just a thought and i'd like to see what people think.
