K2 is chord length. ie: tip to tail with no sag in the measuring tape.

I think they measure effective edge - either way, they measure out about 5cm longer than the advertised length

my bet is they measure the skis before they are shaped(while they are still 100% flat) sort of thing. some companies do the same with some snowboards and some wakeboard companies do the same.
