This is not a recent issue, but a sort of ongoing problem that has really pissed me off. I constantly hear people saying "Fuck the Police" and calling the police officers "Pigs" and "Assholes". I don't understand why people have to insult those who protect you and your community.
If you hate cops because they pull you over for a traffic violation, it is not he who is the problem. It is you for speeding.
If you get mad when a cop arrests people for possession of drugs, it is not the cops fault they broke the law.
They go through extensive training, and accept a smaller salary in order to protect you. And how do you repay them? by Insulting them.
and finally "Hate the law, not the enforcers of the law"
for all the annoying trolls, yes i am mad.

but dude, I was only going 20mph over the limit, and he had no right to tell me I couldn't roll a joint while he was writing me a ticket! the police are all totally out to get me.
 
How about when that antagonize you for doing absolutely nothing, you just "look" like you did something because you are a teenager.

seriously, there all just kids that got picked on growing up and decide to be a cop so they can feel tough and invincible. The majority of cops were absolute loser in high school and now they've turned into PIGS

for one, three of the kids from my highschool that would get picked on for being losers are looking to become cops. anyone that is normal doesn't want to become a cop and ruin other people's lives. Yes, even speeding tickets and posessions tickets can ruin job opportunities. Who else would want to do that to another person?
 
Not all cops are good cops. Just like politics there is a lot of shit going on that we do not see or hear about.
Thus why people say "Fuck the police" because they have had a bad experience.
Say all what you want some cops are just straight up assholes that abuse their power
 
I respect your opinion and do agree on some of your points but there are definitely reasons for me to able to comfortably say fuck the police! If you've never been fucked over by the police, I understand why you made this thread but understand that some cops abuse their powers and just fuck innocent people over because they haven't any activity in a while.

The problem is, the cops of today are there to protect and serve. It's not like the old school sheriffs anymore. There are some good cops and their are just as many scumbag cops. You can't use the excuse of that's what they are told to do either. People have been held plenty accountable for things they did because somebody told them to.

There is a difference between fighting crime and what is going on. They don't care about people, they don't care about rights. They are literally trained to try and trick people out of their rights. Doing illegal things because they can. Protecting other officers even in the most fucked up cases.

This comes back to the naive idea that if you don't like choice a you like choice b. People say, well what do you want, anarchy? I'm all for having police officers, but the amount of power they have now is far too much. There are little or no functional checks in the system. If an officer does something real fucked up, maybe they'll get fired.

It's just bullshit. The shit you can get in trouble for these days. Lets hassle people and put others in prison for anything we can.

EVEN if you do obey the law some cops still go out of their way to give you a hard time. Again like I said before this is why people say "Fuck the police."
 
same applies in every other job. literally every single one has bad people. Even the people wearing mickey mouse suits at Disney are sometimes asshole.

and to that other kid....you know where most cops these days come from? The military. So because 2 or 3 kids at your high school that (according to you) no one likes want to be cops...you group them all together?

At my university a good 75% of the students are studying to be cops. And you can tell which are going to be douchebags. They are the ones you would already describe as being a douchebag to begin with. We also have them in the history education department, the science department, and every other major department.
 
I am going to become a police officer. And the generalization that cops are just fatass's that sit in their patrol car and eat doughnuts all day, is bullshit. The police officers that i know, are ripped as hell and in better shape than most people half their age. I know cops who are wrestling coaches, who own their own MMA gym, or I will see them at the town gym every single time i go. Yes some are lazy fatass's...but compare the health of the average police officer to that of someone who works a boring desk job, tell me who is in better shape.
 
everyone breaks law..., even cops. You think that asshole pig needed to give me a ticket for pissing in an alley at 1 in the morning, when the only open bathroom was under construction? No, he didn't, he was being a fucking prick.... He told me to go piss in this club across the street.... which had a block long line up.

 
buddy, your high school isnt the whole country. your tone makes you sound like an annoying 14 year old. but i do see your point, some cops are a little "power hungry".
 
this^ know some mad cool cops, and some over that really arent cool at all. almost got arrested the other night for doing absolutly nothing.
 
whats funny is how the term "fuck the police" came from rappers, who predominantly got in trouble for doing extremely illegal shit.

I'm sure they're all just happy as can be that their term fuck the police has been adopted by any white suburban teenager who thinks he's had his rights trampled on.
 
how about when they catch you smoking a blunt with your black friends, then separate the whites from the blacks, leave the whites outside but put the black kids in the back of the car because they look like "runners," then proceed to hassle and threaten both groups with an arrest even though we all know weed is decriminalized in NY and 1 blunt definitely does not weigh over 20 grams. oh and this is in rochester NY which has the highest murder rate per capita in all of NY. and there were 2 cop cars wasting time tending to kids smoking a blunt. and the stories i have been hearing now that i'm in utah have been no better
that is why i don't like the police. at a certain point "serve and protect" turned into search and arrest.
 
This. Some cops are real good guys who are out to fight serious crime and make a positive contribution to their community. Others decide to be dicks to the average person. I've been in situations where I've dealt with the police and they've been very respectful and genuinely concerned for my wellbeing. I've also been in situations where the officer abused their power and decided to insult and belittle me. Basically, the way I kinda see it is the dudes that join to force to stop serious crime are out doing just that, while the officers that most generally law-abiding (people who don't steal or deal hard drugs or anything serious, but might've fucked up driving or done something stupid after drinking a bit too much) deal with somehow enjoy "putting people in their place" so to speak. Fuck those cops.
 
My neighbor is a cop in the next town over, which is much much worse. Our town is mostly average, there aren't really any parts that I dont feel safe in by myself. He even says that the cops in my town are complete assholes so I guess the good cops are looked at as assholes automatically because of the dick cops. BUT as for people like NWA all cops suck, because I don't care how nice a cop is if they caught NWA doing the shit they did/do? They would definitely not be nice about it if they did they'd probably be fired by then.
 
Actually that isn't even the case. It happens far to often where people who are doing nothing wrong are hassled because a cop is having a bad day or just abusing power. I can understand where people are coming from that don't even bother reporting bad cops. Have the time it's worthless. Cop doesn't get in trouble but you add the risk of getting hassled even more.

There really are no punishments for cops. They have nearly limitless power these days, with little to no checks. That's a recipe for turning even a good cop into a power hungry asshole. Even an other wise good cop. Power changes people.

go to a real city, and experience the police there. I think the problems with police mostly come from small town cops. I know in the small town next to me, if you do anything, you get caught. You go into the city though, and you can get away with loads of stuff simply because either the cop doesn't care, or he has better things to do.

and never ask a cop if he has anything better to do. Amateur mistake.
 
I find that most of the people who complain about police are pretty dumb. If you are gonna break the law be smart about it. If by chance you are pulled over, make sure your bowl is not in view. Don't put your bags in the glove compartment. Say as little as possible.

Most of the time when people say "Fuck the Police" they are really saying 'Damn I'm stupid and got caught, let's blame it on someone else even though it's my fault".

but seriously "fuck the police" when they are the types that go out of their way to collect revenue and/or make your day shitty for no reason.
 
IT really depends though. If you're talking about smoking a joint in public, cops in a big city are going to be less likely to waste your time. Get the bigger phish, that kind of shit.

That said, NYC cops are fucking dicks. Less than even remotely helpful. They just don't give a fuck about you or anything that's wrong.

Then there are small town dick cops.

Plenty of variables and plenty of dick cops.

I think there are more good cops, but most people obviously disagree because their only interaction with police is when they're doing something wrong, so they are more prone to call them asshole, even if they were only doing their job. (I don't care who you are, I'd be pissed at anyone writing me a $200 ticket. If it was the pope, I'd still say he was an ass)

The cool small town cops tend to be the ones actually from the area who know everyone, and actually care about the community.

definitely right about city cops not caring about the small stuff so much. When the pot laws were passed in MA a few years ago, most of the cops I've interacted with (a whole lot) were actually quite happy, because it meant they could stop having to hassle kids over something they didn't want to do in the first place, but had to. (having a cop walk past a group of kids clearly smoking pot leads to problems.)
 
Its still easy as fuck to do hood rat things with yo friends and not get caught by the cops... So if you do, you are really dumb, fo real.
All of my cop run-in's have been awesome (as they can be).

I fucked up pretty bad and crashed my car when I had a couple beers in me and the cops who were the first to arrive were really good, left out some tickets and charges that I should have gotten, and when I was in the hospital they were really nice to me, treated me as if I didnt just break several laws and didn't fuck me by the long dick of the law.

A little while ago I was coming home from the bar and my friend got pulled over, the cop was infront of us and pulled over to the side of the road and as soon as we passed him he turned his lights on. My buddy was a DD so he only had 2 beers over the course of the night. Cop breathilized him and found traces of alcohol. My friend was honest to him when questioned and everything, and the cop knew he didn't really have a means to stop us so he gave us a warning.
so yeah, not fuck the police, if your dumb enough to get caught you deserve it.

i has two cop stories. from the same day
first oneIt was around 2 or 3pm and me and 2 other friends were getting our booze and some weed for that night as it was gatenight :). dealer came. gave us our weed wrapped in newspaper and then went to get our booze. we are 16by the way. so me and one friend got bored when the other friend went with the dealer to get our weed and decided to climb up some portable on a construction site. he jumped off i didnt want to cause i didnt know how to roll so i just chilled up there. apparently some asshole from accross the seat caled the cops and said i was peeing off of the portable. friend comes back. were waiting for booze cop car drives up and we start to walk away. cop says "Stop right there! wait for me to get out of the car" he starts questioning us searches our bag doesnt find newspaper full of weed lets us go

later that day. stopped on the side of the road by cops. three of us have bags. one has a paintball gun. one has booze and weed one is empty. some asshole called the cops cause a couple of us were play fighting and they thought we were legit kicking the shit out of eachother. they skip the second shortest on of us who has a black bag full of illegal things and check the other two bags. we told them we were just taking the gun to a friend and it was dissassembled so we were all good. good thing they didnt see the short guys bag
 
So because you have 2 examples of cops not being assholes no cops are? Also there is this idea, a really fucking stupid idea, but it is fairly common none the less. The idea that if the cops are anything less than absolute assholes, they are being super nice. This is what happens when you get used to and adjust to cops being dicks. If a cop does something that is effective without giving you 15 tickets and hitting you with a bat, it's OMG that cop was so cool. Also you talked about crashing a car after drinking then put your big caps lock speech at the end.

Cops should have a goal about fixing the problems and locking about the bad guys if needed. Giving somebody that just crashed their car 17 tickets isn't necessary, that's just a bullshit means to generate revenue. Taking your shit day out on people you pull over isn't needed, that's just a power hungry asshole with a badge.

There are plenty of good and bad cops. I just hate the idea that anything less than the worst is a cop being nice. This is the kind of thing that happens when things go up incrementally. You slowly adjust, and eventually think nothing of it. Of course people bitch a little at first, but then you get used to it.

We need to take a step back. Put some checks in order, and fix what's broken.
 
look up community policing, the exclusionary rule, judicial review cases of fourth and fifth amendment rights, and duress. in doing so you will learn everything you just said is skewed and inaccurate.
