Resort Condition for trip next week 1/8-1/13

I have a trip booked for snowbird next week. I've been following snow reports and forecasts. I see the snow pack and conditions are not looking real great.

How bad is it and is there any particularly resorts that have better base and snow conditions right now. If so I could rent a car and drive over to big cottonwood or snowbasin/powder, or should I be thinking about skipping the trip (flying on southwest) and just try again later in the season. Thanks really appreciate the advice.

It's pretty shitty right now. That being said, a decent storm is SUPPOSEDLY (I'll believe it when I see it these days) moving in next weekend, so would be right after your arrival. Might be worth keeping an eye on the next couple days, but in general I'd probably say postpone till Feb/March...

It will most likely be crust or dust on crust next week. If you aren't afraid of hitting rocks time to time and variable conditions pretty much the whole mountain is open now and it's still really fun in shitty conditions.

If you're coming here to ski pow then I'd say wait but if you're down with taking park laps Brighton and PC are super fun right meow.

snowbird is the suck right now. need so much snow... its sad. Park Citys park is real nice tho. Brighton is skiing o.k. solitude is real thin.

has it snowed at all the last couple days? im also heading to the bird this weekend. is it enough snow at all to bring fat skis or should I just ride the park skis?

haha im coming from Tahoe, crowds don't scare me. gaper slalom is the only way I know how to ski. except I feel like the percentage of people at Utah that are gaper is way less than over here. but that's awesome. im really excited now

it's dumping! Alta and the bird will be money, most likely Brighton and Solitude as well.

PC/Canyons/DV will even get some freshies by Sunday!

I hit a lot of freshies and got some face shots off of 9990 at canyons today, the snow was a stellar welcome than when I arrived earlier this week, and the coverage really isn't that bad in the right aspects. Decent system coming tomorrow so it should be great tomorrow through the weekend!

wasatchsnowforecast is sayin 6 day totals could be anywhere from 20 to 40 inches. Gonna be a great weekend in the snatch

headin over tonight and definitely bringing the powder boards. so stoked to get to ski on some real snow for a change and not the sierra cement, all 18 inches of it
