Republican/Conservative or Democrat/Liberal

i wouldn't necessarily call that libertarianism, there are a lot more aspects to libertarianism that dont really fit a left or right side. true libertarians, i think, are more conservatie than anything else. they believe strongly in a VERY open, free market - essentially untouched the government. they also support severely reduced taxes, essentially for funding basically the military and roads.
i think its kinda funny because they dont seem to be in a middle ground on issues, its very hardline right on some issues and very liberal on some others.
just an example of some libertarian thought: i had a libertarian rep. from the state (NH) compare local government and the local police to the mafia and inner city gangs - a little bit ridiculous in my opinion for a mostly white upper-middle class community
(registered independent - however, very liberal on all issues socially. i do see pros and cons in both liberal and conservative economics)

Chrysler is sold to Fiat, 11.3 of the 12.5 billion in stimulus is repayed, and they declare bankruptcy...soo....... this is Obama's fault for lending money to an industry in need? I'm not too far off then. I like the Republican platform more, but some of the shit the party does drives me fucking insane (anti-gay rights and abortion). However, the conservative economic approach is just so much better (obviously all in my opinion). Business faces far less regulation and less taxation promotes business. Why is Texas the number one state for business and California is the worst? Why is Salt Lake City developing into a technological hub? That's what kills me is that we've ran industry right out of the state/country due to harsh regulations and our job market is continually diminishing. I'll stop there before I go into the ponzi scheme that is social security. /rant and sorry to most-likely start a shit show.
 
because obama lent money to PRIVATE company something that america is great for, we have competition, if the business is failing well shit thats their fault, our government should not be buying stock with our money in a private company.

really i can understand why some people might have problems with what the democratic party wants to do (hell, im a total liberal and i disagree with half the shit they want to do), but there's just no room for conservatism in modern society. republicans are cool with me, but when people introduce themselves as conservatives i can't help but instantly label them as either selfish or just ignorant.

Democrats call for stricter gun regulation. Knowing the statistics behind gun related incidents, how you can you possibly be against this? No one is saying you can't have a gun, but you better damn well not be able to get one for 50 bucks, no waiting period, no background check and a fucking smile at a gun show. Conservatives label the heavy regulation of gun possession a violation of their 2nd amendment right. Tell me, is anyone saying you can't own a gun? No. You're fucking retarded, and you should leave. And yes, America will change. If you help push it in the proper direction. It's called voting, ya tard.
 
you're all forgetting that chrysler was a private company owned by cerebus venture capital, one of the worlds largest private equity investment firms. where does that company get off on privatizing profits and socializing debt?

and chrysler paid us back with our own bailout money through some clever accounting. we are still in the red with what was given/received from chrysler. i suggest you look that part up.

I put social issues above economic issues because I don't want my freedom threatened by a bunch of toothless rednecks and pasty white religious people. Every time you say "I vote conservative", and this is especially true for the last 12 years, you're saying "I hate you, and I never want you to be happy or have the freedom I take for granted". And don't argue that you're not doing this if you vote that way, because even if you're voting for the economic side (of which conservatism hasn't been employed for any of the last 4 republican presidents), the fact that you put keeping a cheap buck over the rights of MILLIONS of Americans who don't happen to live the same way as you do is juvenile, morally void, and, worst of all, harmful to the overall American populace. I'd rather have Obama compromise and keep half of his promises, but overturn the marriage ban and give me ENDA, than a republican who promises me Christian Family Values and a healed economy. There. Now you get why I'm inconsiderate.

bipartisanship is ruining our country, look at the argument it turned into in this thread because some left wing women thinks we should take away our guns, and give more money to white females with black children on welfare, while they take away money from medicare for the elderly.

This man is right, bipartisan politics are the #1 reason that an incredible country filled with opportunity and wonderful people has turned into a filthy shithole filled with idiots segregated by political party, religion, favorite teams etc. George Washington warned against a bipartisan system in his farewell address in 1796... if anyone needs to do any reading up its all the Republicans and Democrats in the room.
The world is going to shit because of the people we have been allowing to run the show. We vote them in thinking that because they represent our parties and they make a few shoddy promises that they're the best candidate. Truth is NONE of our leading politicians are remotely interested in fixing this system. Just in preserving their own incomes/positions and keeping the status quo alive.
Sparknotes: Fuck bipartisan politics, fuck the world we're living in and it's lack of "plenty" (we easily have the technology today to overhaul EVERYTHING we do to make the best use of our resources and provide better lives for every human being in the world... at a cost much lower than continuing to bomb the shit out of the rest of the world for what we think are "good reasons").
