Renewing ip address

my computer cant renew my ip address and when i went to ip config it said i need to be disconnected from the media...i have no idea what the media is can someone help me?

reboot your machine then before you open anything up try and release and renew your ip if it still says the same thing check and see what apps you have the run at startup and turn them off

you probably have more than one network device. media state .... media disconnected means that something isn't plugged in - if you're on the internet don't worry about it cause obviously everything is okay

ipconfig /release

ipconfig /renew

you should see both ethernet adapters and that will renew it. But, if you're looking to change ip addresses, you probably won't get a different one.

open up command line and type in ipconfig

see what it says...the ip could be back

if its telling you that you have to disconnect from a media device to renew then at the time your computer is trying to renew its IP some media device or program on your machine is accessing a network resource and in case using your ip so the computer cannot release it to renew, so make sure nothing is running in the background
