I hear way to many flipping out about obama and other politicians agreeing to a mosque near ground zero, well here is the deal

I, personally, think its like a slap in the face, its disrespectful to put a mosque there. i live in NY and this whole terrorist situation has been lingering in the air since 9/11...

But on paper... on paper, it looks TERRIBLE to deny these people a mosque... just because they are muslim, doesnt mean they dont get the freedoms that the US grants them.

i think a mosque is a terrible idea, but i hate all these ignorant people flipping out at obama and local politicians for supporting it

because, in reality, they have to....
 
The only reason there is controversy with the mosque is for some reason the whole american public seems to think all muslims are terroists
 
if you people are freaking about other PEOPLE getting there place of worship you should GTFO! what if you lived in iraq and you couldent build a church because of who you are youd be pissed
 
If a group of christians wanted to build a church near ground zero after 9/11, there would be no controversy, and in fact a lot of people would probably think it was a really nice thing to do. Why the hell should this be any different? I will say that when i first heard about this whole thing, i thought it was a terrible idea, but then a stopped and actually thought about it, and realized how retarded it is that its even an issue. But this is America after all. Were so fuckin' awesome.

true, if we want to keep calling ourselves a free country we are stuck allowing a mosque to be built. We should force them to show us where they get their funding though or at least force them to only get funding from within the country.
 
Oh shut up dude... Manhattan is one of the densest places in the country, and the world for that matter... There is a MASSIVE muslim population there... larger than many many other cities, and I'm pretty damn sure that Lower Manhattan has a good portion of them... Even if they built it anywhere else on Manhattan it wouldnt be anymore than 13 miles away from the site of ground zero... It's NOT that big of a place...

Saying that they should build it somewhere else? who the fuck here has the right... It's AL QUEDA TERRORISTS not MUSLIMS we need to worry about here... god DAMN my fellow Americans are retarded...

not all muslims are terrorists but the terrorists claim to be doing it in the name of islam.

under that line of thinking i beleive people have a right to be reluctant on the location of the mousqe.

You guys need to realize that people can build whatever they want, where ever. I'd be fine with a Japanese monument at Pearl Harbor showing there are no hard feelings from WW2!
 
I don't think any cult should be allowed to establish themselves that close to a national symbol. No muslims, no christians, no jews, nobody that thinks there is a magic man up in the sky granting wishes.
 
Where the hell does anyone expect to get money to build a mosque in NY at all? We're in a damn recession and until Obama fixes the country he wrecked, we shouldn't build anything. Especially something meant for terrorists to pray in.
He's probably just doing it for attention so people forget he was born in Kenya.
 
No, there is one in Nagasaki but that is because there was one there BEFORE we dropped the bomb and it got blown up in the blast. There is no church in Hiroshima anywhere near the blast site.
 
I would object to any sort of religious building near Ground Zero. But hell, I object to religious buildings everywhere. Plus, it's not like Muslims weren't killed in 911 (excluding the terrorists)

Whatever, this whole debacle just makes me hate religion even more.

I would rather the mosque not be built, but being tolerant will help us. I'm falling asleep right now so the thoughts in my head aren't typing out well. Sorry bout that, I did have some good points to make but they'd prob just be gibberish in the morning. Maybe I'll remember what I was thinking, or just realize that pain meds make me not able to formulate coherent thoughts.
 
No, but for some reason in some areas Muslims have this, well, thing for building a mosque in a city that they have conquered (parts of the Barbary coast, Constantinople when the Romans ran off, Baghdad when they kicked out the Assyrians, and the biggest being Jerusalem).

I am NOT saying that is why they are building it but if they want to promote tolerance shouldn't they be tolerant of the wishes of the majority (something like 60%) that don't want the Mosque/Community Center in that specific area?
