Regarding the Rating of Karma

Just a trend I noticed in myself, I only give people 10/10, 0/10, or just leave them alone. I never think, "Oh, this person posted a funny comment/useful information that makes me like them a solid 7 out of 10" Its all or nothing...maybe its a bad trend. Maybe its time I thought about the consequences of my actions...thoughts?

0/10 or 10/10 is the usual system for me

becuase if you "raise" someone who is rated and 8 by others to a 7/10, then in the end you are lowering thier karma

but really who gives a fuck---- post counts + date joined FTW

either i like them, or i don't. what's a 3 out of 10 mean? i kinda like you sometimes, but you're usually a douche? or a 9 out of 10? i really like you, but you had that one post that really bothered me that i don't remember what it was so i think i'll keep you down a notch?

fuck it, you're either going to be a 0 or a 10 for me, and i'd say i've rated a lot of the people who commonly post
 
i also tend to rate people who i have personally talked to or have had interactions with, whether it be on NS or skiing ect. i rarely rate some random person for some random post.
 
if you make me lol or i strongly agree with your well conveyed postion in a thread then i will give you a ten. If you piss me off or say something really stupid then you get nadda
 
this. let's say i have a PM exchange with someone and they help me out and shit, i will give them a 10. other than that, i never touch the karma button, even if someone posts something really fucking stupid or if someone starts bitching at me for no reason or whatever
 
Ii only do 0 or 10.

My opinion on karma is that it keeps my stupid posts at bay, and encourages me to post useful, relevant information. At the end of the day, if my karma didn't go down it means I posted well
 
another forum I post on (survivalistboards.com) has a feature where you can "thank" other users for useful or funny posts. And the more thanks you have, the more legitness. No number bullshit, I like that

And whoever said giving someone a 7/10 when they are a 8/10 lowers their karma is wrong. Whenever you give someone something over 5 it goes up and under 5 it goes down

also i always do 0/10 or 10/10 anyways.
 
I think the system would be better if each post was rated separately. That's how I do it, I always end up +/-ing someone by likea point based on their posts.
 
if they make a good post i will bump there karma up as little as possible. like if there exchange is 6.72445 i will put them at 7/10. if i dont like them i will put them at 3/10. if i see the same person make a good post i will raise it one or two. bad post = -1 or -2
 
0,5, or 10. Nothin really inbetween. Unless I had you at 0 and you say something smart or interesting, ill give you a 2 or so
